HALCALI - Otsukare Summer (おつかれSUMMER) HALCALI is a Japanese female hip-hop duo consisting of HALCA (Haruka) and YUCALI (Yukari), both from Meguro, Tokyo. The duo’s name is a combination of the members’ given names, and they made their debut with strong backing from RYO-Z and DJ FUMIYA of the renowned hip-hop group RIP SLYME. From the outset, HALCALI distinguished themselves from the genre’s typically hard-edged sound by adopting a relaxed, understated rap style known as datsuryoku-kei rap. Combined with their distinctive fashion sense and lighthearted choreography, this approach helped shape the idea of “oshare rap,” a more stylish and accessible take on hip-hop that gained widespread attention in Japan. Their debut release achieved notable commercial success, reaching the Top 10 on the Oricon Albums Chart, a milestone that made HALCALI the first female hip-hop duo in Japan to enter the chart’s top tier.

HALCALI is made up of HALCA and YUCALI, who first met in elementary school at dance class and later debuted as a duo. Although they disbanded in 2013, the song’s popularity has brought the two back into the spotlight in such an iconic way.
