Just completed my first 1-on-1 Hat Making Workshop today 🧱 After running my first Group Hat Making Workshop last week, I took on all the feedback and implemented it into this session to make the learning experience even better! A huge thank you to @mattynelz for coming through and trusting the process! From never touching a sewing machine to wearing a hat he made himself from start to finish, it was awesome to watch his confidence grow throughout the day 👏 This is exactly why I started running workshops. If you're interested in a 1-on-1 Hat Making Workshop, send me a DM đŸ«Ą

The 1920s and 1930s are an endless source of inspiration in my work as a milliner. I love the elegance of this era, its lines, its silhouettes and, of course, its hats. A time when millinery and hat making played an essential role in women’s style, and when a hat could be beautifully simple yet have an incredible presence. For this new handmade felt hat, I drew inspiration from a world that has always fascinated me: the end of the Roaring Twenties, between the late 1920s and early 1930s, with their elegant lines and distinctive shapes. Inspired by the close-fitting, enveloping women’s hats of the period, sometimes known as helmet-style hats, I designed and shaped my own interpretation entirely by hand. I never really try to recreate the past. I prefer to borrow a line, a silhouette, an emotion
and see where my hands take me. Perhaps that is also why I love being a milliner so much: creating hats by hand, shaping felt, and bringing traditional craftsmanship into conversation with con
Making this hat was so needed to boost back my creativity and passion for hat making. Custom work can be very draining but this was the exact opposite. So much trust and flow when creating and ended up with such a gorgeous end product due to that! Thanks so much Feli, so honoured to create you something special for your journey ahead!
