1.5 часа подготовки, что б 10 минут прокатиться шагом 🤣. В целом, дать ей отдохнуть, была не такая уж и плохая идея 🤣 . 1.5 hours of preparation for 10 minutes of riding 🤣. I think giving her a rest wasn’t such a bad idea 🤣 . . . #horse #cob #silverdapple #hermits #beautiful #majestichorse #horseriding #horsebraids #horselover #england🇬🇧

What moved people in the past and present to become hermits? What does a life of seclusion offer? And is the hermit life possible today? Hermit crabs may seem cute to pick up, but it's best just to leave them alone 👍 #oceans #sea #conserve #hermitcrab #conservation #hermits #beach

What can we learn from the hermits?

This week we celebrate the feast day of St. Anthony of Egypt, he was one of many hermits who have shaped monasticism and overall Christian spirituality.
However, what can we - people in the world - learn from these hermits?

Well, to put it simply - it’s about going back to the heart of spirituality. While we aren’t expected to give up all our possessions and go run into the caves like these men and women, we are at times called to reflect on what is essential and what is extra.

We are called to reflect on our motivations - is this spirituality or is this vanity? Is the my heart’s desire? Or is this a label that I want to use to show others how pious, holy and self-righteous I am?
Is this faith? Or is it going through the motions? Is this prayer because I want to grow closer to God, or is it because I want to force my will - rather than His? When you strip down your faith to the essentials, everything becomes so simple, yet so severe.
It’s no longer purely about the dogmas, it’s no longer a series of talking points to convert someone - it’s a very straightforward idea:

Am I becoming closer to God? Or further?

Am I becoming a living icon of His love? Or a living icon of ego, selfishness, and greed?

For when we enter the gates of heaven, all we can take with us is our souls.

And God will not ask us if we held the right theology to an absolute science, or if we had the prettiest rosary in the congregation - what he will say, I do not know but it’s likely this question:

Were you a good representation of my endless love? #hermits #catholicism #christianity #catholicism #prayer #mysticism #christianmysticism
