What a ride! This crazy LOVE song needs no introduction but it gets labeled as a “cheating” song quite often. I assure you it’s a love song. We wrote it in about 15 mins the next day after it happened to me, not knowing it would change our lives forever. I have a complicated relationship with this song as it made my career take off and made my personal life pretty chaotic at times during its popularity. It’s puzzling why 🧐 or maybe not haha but I was just writing about my life and never thought it would take me around the world like it has. It’s fkn crazy. I thank you all so much for connecting to this song and the whole Extreme Behavior Record. Another installment in the 20years of Extreme Behavior Series 💔 Love this fkn song and loved playing it live in those early days. 1 or 2 heartbreak Anthems on this thing isn’t there haha It’s just what I was going through at the time. I have to tell you Celebrating the record like this has been pretty amazing and I’ve loved revisiting these songs and sharing them with you. 20 ish years ago, “By the Way” was the first song written and recorded for what ended up being Extreme Behavior. In 2004 I had written like 20 something songs for a record we were going to record w/ @howesofficial and @joey.moi in Canada But We get there and decided to scrap all the songs and start from scratch, FMLife. So, all I had Fresh was this little nugget I had written 2 nights before we left to go up there. “In the winding down hours, I let your heart down again.” That is kinda where the Journey began with this Album I’m so fkn proud of. The insanely talented @howesofficial ended up Co writing and Producing Extreme Behavior in 05’ and is actually on this song singing the answer backs in the verses and all the harms. I always loved the way our voices sounded together (Especially on this one) I’m writing with him for my new record next month 🤔 😎 Anyways I hope yall dig it. It’s nostalgic AF and I’m loving re-signing and re-visiting these and sharing them w/ you guys. Like I said they are your songs now.
