Many people will tell you your dreams are impractical and hard to reach. But that never means impossible. Carving your own path in a world that isn’t built for you can be painful, but it’s people like us that are remembered for our bravery and dedication to our hearts. I was told by my family, my teachers, and others in my life that I would never be able to fend for myself, that my defiance and stubborn nature would make me destined for failure. That my clothes would scare people away, and make them feel uncomfortable or able to humiliate me. Hysterical, out of control, “too much”…
Many women who are remembered today were told the same phrases. If they didn’t fit into a mold, they were laughed at or seen as impossible. But if we don’t put our foot down and march down our own path, our future daughters will feel just like we did when we first heard those words. We can’t give up on authenticity and our right to be free. ❤️

I don’t think I’ve been able to do every day 18th century style unless it’s this more ‘undressed’ pastoral inspired style - more suitable for the Petit Triano than Versailles 😂, typically made of a gathered or pleated skirt, a chemise-reminiscent top, and some type of vest or stays. Now be honest, can I wear this to a modern no-uniform policies office? 😬 what are your thoughts? Mix and match options in the comments ⬇️

This is part 1 in my mini series where I will show you everything I can make out of this vintage tablecloth. Pretty self explanatory. What would you like to see me make that goes with the stays and a skirt? I know I want a hat, cap, or bonnet of some kind. I also thought of making a ruffled collar or choker necklace. I could possibly make another 18th century pocket. Whatever else I make has to be small though because the stays and skirt have consumed over 80% of the tablecloth 🥲
