Meet Hoboken’s newest teammate... Daxbot!🤖 Starting today, you may spot Daxbot traveling along Hoboken sidewalks as part of a month-long effort to help improve accessibility throughout our city. Using advanced sensors, Daxbot will collect engineering data on sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalks, pedestrian signal buttons, and park pathways to help identify barriers and support Hoboken’s new ADA Accessibility Plan and updated Vision Zero Action Plan. 📝 We also want to hear from you! If you’ve experienced areas that are difficult to navigate, take our ADA Accessibility Survey and help shape future improvements to Hoboken’s public spaces. The survey is open through July 23. I lived in Hoboken before I moved to Jersey City. And I want to be honest about something. Hoboken is beautiful. It is walkable, it is charming, the waterfront is stunning and Washington Street on a weekend is genuinely fun. I have nothing bad to say about it as a city. But I never felt fully connected to it. I tried. I lived there, I knew the spots, I did the thing. And something just never clicked. I always felt like a guest at someone else’s party. I said what I said. And then I moved to Jersey City and something shifted immediately. You can tell who lives in Hoboken and who lives in Jersey City within five minutes of meeting them by the way. The Hoboken person knows every bar on Washington Street by name. Within the first conversation they have mentioned their building’s rooftop. And they have very strong opinions about the ferry versus the PATH versus the bus that they will share whether you asked or not. The Jersey City person has a favorite spot on Central Ave that they will not fully tell you about. They have been to at least three different farmers markets and they will argue about which one is better. And they are genuinely excited to tell you about a restaurant you have never heard of and probably cannot find on Google Maps. Jersey City is where I found my people. The diversity here is real. The food reflects it. The neighborhoods reflect it. You can walk two blocks and feel like you are in a completely different part of the world and that is not an accident. That is just what this city is. I have sold real estate in both markets for 15 years. The Hoboken buyer and the JC buyer are two completely different personalities. And the second you sit across from someone you know exactly which one they are. Which one are you? Drop “HOBOKEN” or “JERSEY CITY” in the comments and let’s settle this.
