House viewing: #collazzone house in Umbria. This was an intriguing house as it was renovated to a "builders finish" - whatever that might be. It was a nice house to view on a terrible May day. It was pouring! Liked: - position of the house on a small hill - lovely olive grove - beautiful veranda/loggia - excellent access to Perugia airport (20 minutes or so) Didn’t like: - the access road was completely unmade - no walkable village or town - overlooked by another house VERDICT: ❌ another lovely house, but it just didn't feel right for us. House viewings are your time for making sure that your future home is fit for you! Whether you’re stepping into your first ever viewing or your fifth, here’s your ultimate checklist to help you spot the good, the bad, and the damp 👀 Inside the house 🏠 Do the light switches work? Is the flooring in good condition? Is there enough storage space? Are there enough plug sockets? Do the taps work? Where is the boiler and how old is it? What sort of radiators or heaters are fitted? Are the radiators and heaters in good condition? Are there any unusual smells? Health & safety 🦺 Are there any signs of damp/mould/condensation on the walls? Are there any exposed wires? Are there any cracks in the ceiling and walls? Windows & doors 🚪 Do windows and doors open easily Is there single, double or triple glazing? Are there keys to all the locks and do they work? Is there mould, condensation or damp around the windows? Outside the property 🧱 Are the bricks in good condition? Are there any loose roof tiles? Is there any sagging in the roof? How old is the roof? Is the guttering in good condition? The garden 🌳 Do neighbours’ homes or other buildings overlook the garden? Does the garden get much sun? 📋 Take this checklist with you or keep it saved - future you will thank you when your head’s full of floorplans and kitchen tiles.
