I had @dr.brad.krock in my studio today and in order to get multiple looks in a really short amount of time, I needed a way to change things up without completely changing my entire setup. Luckily it doesn’t take much to do that 😜

2-point lighting for headshot photographers. 📸👇
The golden rule is ensuring your rim light never overpowers your key light.
✅ Meter your rim light so it is a perfect match to your key light.
💇♂️If your subject has dark hair, drop the rim light a half stop or even a full stop lower.
Because it shows up much more intensely on darker tones.
What if their hair is pulled back in a ponytail?
💁🏼♀️ Same rule applies.
That light is going to hit the skin directly, which makes it pop even more.
✨ Keep it a half stop or full stop lower than the key light to keep the skin looking natural.
For lighter hair, bring up the rim light a half stop because you’ll need more light for it to show.

“𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻.”
If I had a dollar for every time I heard that in my studio, I’d have a second camera body by now.
𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲:
Some people do — which is exactly why I guide you through every step so you don’t feel awkward or left guessing.
