My day one versus day 2 of throwing on the wheel. Day two was much easier for me as far as pulling goes. Things felt a little more like muscle memory and I took my time on my pulls. I haven’t been throwing at home long enough to show a week by week comparison quite yet and I’ve had a couple harder throwing days but I think it’s all part of the learning process. Apologies because the captions won’t work. #beginnerspottery
You don’t need a kiln to start pottery. You don’t need a studio. You don’t even need a lot of space. If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect setup,” this is your sign to start anyway. • • • • • #potterybeginner #smallspaceartist #microwavepottery #creativehobby
Skewer Stick - One of my most used tools. Broken into a small piece, & FREE from the kitchen drawer. I use a Skewer Stick to create lines like this & for blending every join, seam, handle... + more. It really is one of my most used tools, I'm not kidding. #Pottery #PotteryProcess #PotteryStudio #PotteryTools Any other Tips/Hacks can be found in my Course, don't miss out. https://taniarustageceramics.com/guide Comment HACKS

My altered cylinders have seen a lot of trials and errors over the years. Pieces like this come from a lot of experimenting with form—pushing, adjusting, and seeing what the clay will allow. @marchmeetthemaker #marchmeetthemaker2026 #ceramicsprocess #wheelthrownpottery #ceramicartist #alteredceramics
I usually throw large sculptural vessels, but a friend lent me this tiny wheel — and it turns out mini wheels require a completely different approach. Everything has to scale down: pressure, tools, movement… even the sponge. This is the full 32-minute real-time tutorial where I share what actually worked (and what didn’t). https://bit.ly/MiniWheel Clay keeps us humble.
Upside-down lid magic off the hump! 🍲 Looks like a little bowl… but flip it and it’s a perfect lid. Pottery tricks never get old. 🎥 #WheelThrowing #PotteryLife #ClayPlay
Just making pots in my basement. Somebody remind me that I am growing out my bangs. I'm just about annoyed enough to cut them. Again. Then I'll have to start the process all over again. #basementstudio #smallbatchpottery #annoyinghair #pottery #claystudio
Who knew a $8 candy jar could do this? 🏺✨ I saw this pattern and knew it belonged on clay. It’s officially my favorite "budget" texture tool in the studio. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve used to texture your pottery?
