After opening in 2008, the property’s run will end in under 20 years, a reminder of how quickly Las Vegas reinvents itself.

Eastside Cannery Demolished in Early Morning Implosion
Early Thursday morning, March 5, the Eastside Cannery was demolished in a controlled implosion, bringing down the long-closed hotel-casino that had been part of the Las Vegas valley skyline for years.
Boyd Gaming, which owns the property, says it plans to redevelop the site, though details about what could replace the former resort have not yet been announced.
The Eastside Cannery had remained closed since 2020.

Another Las Vegas casino is about to disappear overnight.
It’s been about a year and a half since the Tropicana implosion back on October 9, 2024. Now, Las Vegas is preparing for another dramatic demolition.
This time, it’s the Eastside Cannery tower, located on the east side of the valley.
The implosion is scheduled for around 2:00 AM tomorrow morning.
Because of the demolition, several road closures are planned.
Boulder Highway will shut down from Harmon Avenue to Sun Valley Drive starting at 11:00 PM tonight, with closures expected to last until 6:00 AM.
Harmon Avenue, just east of Boulder Highway near the tower, will also be completely closed.
Officials say some spectators are expected to gather nearby, including a viewing area near the Longhorn Casino.
By this time tomorrow, what remains of the Eastside Cannery tower will likely be reduced to rubble.
If you’re in the area tonight, plan for road closures and heavy traffic.
