One of the most common mistakes in inline figure skating is spinning only on the toe stop. ❌ A correct spin should be balanced between the first wheel and the toe stop, not just the toe stop. This creates better stability, smoother rotation, and proper technique. The key is to practice your foot placement until you can consistently find the perfect balance between the first wheel and the toe stop. To Ice Skaters Who Have Never Tried Inline Figure Skating Inline figure skating is not a replacement for ice. It is an extension of skating itself. Most ice skaters dismiss inline because their first experience felt wrong. Flat frames. Poor balance. No real edge feel. That reaction is valid. Skaters are sensitive. If timing is off, confidence disappears instantly. But that is not an inline problem. That is a design problem. Inline setups are not all the same. Some frames use three wheels with two balance points. These setups feel faster, lighter, and more agile. They encourage flow, quick transitions, and creative movement. For many skaters, especially artistic or show-oriented skaters, this opens a new way of skating that ice does not always allow. Other setups use four wheels with three balance points. These feel closer to traditional ice balance. More stability. More predictability. Stronger control through jumps and structured footwork. Neither is wrong. They simply offer different conversations with movement. When geometry is built correctly, skating does not disappear. Edges still matter. Posture still matters. Rotation still matters. The body still knows how to skate. What changes is the environment. Inline removes the pressure of limited ice time and crowded sessions. It gives skaters space. Time. Freedom. You are no longer rushing through movement. You are exploring it. That is where creativity comes back. Inline skating allows repetition without burnout. You can feel transitions longer. You can experiment without an audience. You can build confidence quietly before bringing something back onto the ice. Many ice skaters who integrate inline say the same thing. “I forgot why I loved skating.” Not because inline is better than ice. Because it removes friction. Inline figure skating is not rebellion. It is permission. Permission to explore. Permission to choose how skating feels. Permission to keep skating when life makes ice harder to reach. You do not need to choose between ice and inline. You only need to experience skating without pressure once. That is usually enough to change the conversation.

When you first put on your frames, try these couple of tips to make sure they feel correct for you. In all my experience of trying every frame, I have personally never had to change where I have put the frame. Inline figure skating frames compared to ice blades are much more forgiving for where you need to have them. If you are coming from a three-wheel frame and have adjusted your technique to constantly pitch forward, then you may feel, regardless of what type of frame you are on, that you are pitching forward. Just something to know. I would then suggest purposely thinking about skating on the centre two wheels. everything you need to know about my skates 🛼✨ one of my most asked questions is what kind of skates I’m skating on, and where I bought them. these skates are artistic inline skates, made for figure skaters to practice off ice. they’re designed so you can do figure skating moves, spins, edges and footwork, on the ground instead of the ice. i love them because they let me train and perform anywhere. the thing is, they’re hard to find in fun colors, so i decided to fully customize my old and worn down pair, and turn it into a sparkly show skate pair. comment skate to get a dm with a link to all my favorite skate pairs (beginner-friendly included) + all the materials i used for this diy: https://liketk.it/6gG1E 💌 here’s exactly how i did it ⬇️ 🧼 step 1: prep the boots. wipe them down with alcohol and make sure they are completely clean. 💎 step 2: rhinestone chassis. I’ve never seen anyone do this before, but it turned out so cute! Make sure to keep the rhinestones only on the outside, and avoid the wheel area. 🎨 step 3: paint the boots. i used angelus acrylic leather paint in a nude/tan shade and did several thin coats, letting each one dry fully (thin layers are the secret to a smooth, even finish). 👠 step 4: paint the bottoms/soles of the skates. I wanted to create a “louboutin” effect, and went for a baby pink bottom with rose gold sparkles. ✨ step 5: bedazzle the boots. i added flatback crystals along the detailing for a little sparkle 🖌️ step 6: paint the logo with a rose gold metallic color - this is optional, but I think it adds a nice touch. 🛡️ step 7: seal it all with angelus topcoat so the paint and stones stay put through every session. 🎀 step 8: swap in matching nude laces + cute lace charms to finish the look. save this for when you want to customize your own pair 🤍 would you wear these? #figureskating #artisticinlineskating #skatergirl #rollerskates #officeskating
