‼️remote job alert‼️ Just updated remote job board with 35 new roles hiring that have been posted in the last few days. These Ed tech focused roles are paying $55,000 and up most paying closer to the $70,000 - $80,000 range This is the time of year I start gently nudging my educators who want to pivot into a new industry / role to looking into an adjacent industry Ed Tech companies tend to hire more educators as they are often looking for similar skills, experience, and educational backgrounds I also highly suggest for anyone looking into learning + development roles or instructional design roles to look into certifications or courses you can take to upskill as you apply Your educational background gives you an advantage but you also want to make sure the skillset is aligned and your expertise helps make you a unique candidate Drop NEW JOB in the comments and I’ll send you the link to my free remote job board as well as my career development newsletter ! I’ll be sharing steps on networking when you’re anxious or just starting out in this week’s newsletter 📧 . . . . . . . . #millennialindebt #remotejobs #remotework #careercoach #careerchange #newjob #jobshiring #edtech #teachersofinstagram

Here’s where I’d be looking this month. 1. LinkedIn. Filter it to the past 24 hours and apply the same day. Timing matters more than a perfect cover letter. 2. jobs.td.org. The ATD Job Bank. This is the one for L&D, instructional design, and training roles. Way fewer applicants than the big boards! 3. edtech.com. Over 1,000 fully remote jobs right now. Customer success, implementation, curriculum, instructional design. 4. builtin.com. Tech and startup roles, remote or by city. This is where the CS and implementation postings live. 5. idealist.org. Nonprofit program and training roles. A lot of educators land here and never look back. Now here’s what to do once you find them. Read the posting twice before you touch your resume. Pull the exact words they use for the work you’ve already done. Then tailor. Same resume, adjusted top third. Your summary and your first three bullets should sound like the job description. Apply within 48 hours of the posting going up. Early applications get seen by a human. Then find one person at that company on LinkedIn. Hiring manager, recruiter, or someone on the team. Send a short message the same week you apply. Not “please refer me.” Just tell them you applied and why that role caught your eye. Track it. Company, role, date applied, who you messaged. Follow up in 7 days. Five quality applications done this way will beat 50 quick ones every time. I’m going deeper on all of this at my free resume training, Saturday September 12th at 11am! Bring your questions. How to improve your job search, what roles fit your skills, and more. Comment “live” and I’ll send you the link to register free.
Every job I had before real estate secretly trained me for this one. I barely made it through two years of community college. No degree. No five year plan. Just a motto: how hard can it be. I stocked produce for 3 years. Learned how to show up and work hard even on the days the job wasn't my passion. I ran a hospital cafeteria line for 2 years. Fed dozens of stressed out doctors through a lunch rush that never let up. Learned how to stay calm under pressure. I owned an IT company for 20 years. Became a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and a Cisco Certified Network Admin. Led a crew of engineers with barely two years of college to my name. I produced a movie for 3 years. One that made it to Netflix and Amazon. Had to work directly with the Motion Picture Association, the DGA, SAG, the Writers Guild, and the Teamsters with zero experience walking in. I cofounded an eLearning company for 10 years with my best friend. He was the learning brain. I was the execution. Neither of us knew what instructional design even was when we started. None of it was real estate. All of it was God preparing me for it. Every single one of those jobs taught me the same three things. Outwork the competition. Build systems so nothing depends on luck or memory. Treat people with a level of service they don't expect and won't forget. That's the exact playbook I run my real estate business on today. Looking back, I can see His hand in every one of those seasons, even the ones that felt like dead ends at the time. That's the thing about walking with God in business. You don't always see the plan while you're in it. You just keep showing up and trusting He's working. He's brought me through every hard season and He's never once been unfaithful. What season is God using to prepare you right now for what's coming next? Comment below. I read every one.
Most STEM classrooms teach content. The best ones teach the brain. On the Lifelong Learning Defined Podcast, Stephanie Lugo breaks down how she intentionally integrates neuroscience and mindset into her robotics curriculum. Her students don’t just build machines. They build: • Cognitive flexibility • Emotional regulation • Confidence through iteration When students understand how their brain grows through struggle, fear loses its grip. That’s not a mindset poster on the wall. That’s instructional design rooted in science. For decades, educators were basically taught the same career progression: Teacher → instructional coach → administrator. And if you didn’t want to become an admin? You were expected to accept that your income and impact would eventually plateau. But the landscape has changed dramatically. Schools, districts, conferences, organizations, and online communities are actively paying educators for expertise in ways that barely existed a decade ago. We know educators getting paid to: → facilitate PD days → coach teachers and leaders → support curriculum implementation → train schools on AI → speak at conferences → build online programs → consult on literacy, behavior, leadership, assessment, and instructional design And many of these educators never became administrators. What changed wasn’t their intelligence. It was their positioning. They stopped viewing themselves as “just educators” inside a single institution and started recognizing the market value of the problems they know how to solve. That’s the shift. Because most experienced educators are sitting on years of highly valuable expertise they’ve simply never been taught how to package, position, or price. Comment PRICING and we’ll send you our educator PD pricing guide so you can start understanding what your expertise could actually be worth.
