Think an exhaust is the only way to make your car sound better?!WRONG!! Primarily seen on high-strung NA racecars, ITBs (individual throttle bodies) allow for sharper throttle response and more direct airflow into the engine. Whereas a normal road car uses one throttle body to control airflow for all the cylinders, ITBs give each cylinder its own throttle body and butterfly valve. The result is less airflow restriction, near-instant throttle response, and that raw, high-pitched mechanical induction noise that makes racecars sound so aggressive. When manufacturers genuinely care about giving their road cars true motorsport roots, they get ITBs too. The first four generations of the BMW M3 are a perfect example of that. They are expensive, probably kill some low-end torque, and don’t make a whole lot of sense unless you truly need the extra response. The induction noise is on point 🤌 This 1971 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior is said to have been delivered new in Italy and relocated to the Netherlands in the 1980s, where it was acquired by the current owner as a project in 2015. The car was subsequently refurbished and modified in the style of a 2000 GTAm race car by stripping the body, fitting wheel arch flares, and refinishing the exterior in maroon. Power is provided by a 2.0-liter inline-four paired with a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission. Showing 60k miles, it’s listed now on BaT! Additional equipment includes a limited-slip differential, twin Weber carburetors, 15″ BBS wheels, Bilstein and Koni shocks, a roll cage, an Alfaholics exhaust system, Lexan side windows, Recaro racing seats, and Willans harnesses.
