As an eldest daughter, I’ve carried responsibility and become fixer in multiple areas of my life. Raise your hand if you’ve ever been the fixer 🙋🏾‍♀️ What I admire about women who are not afraid to say they are highly ambitious is that they apply the same standards to honoring their humanity. How are you inspired by younger versions of yourself? 1. Be who you say you are 2. Take risks 3. Come into your strength 4. Understand the history of yourself (inner child) 5. Speak up 6. Stick up for your principles, even when it’s not convenient 7. Know your no 8. Ask yourself, Who fixes it for you? 9. Don’t worry too much about your appearance if it distracts you from showing up in your fullness 10. When we first started talking about the idea of Scandal, the idea was bigger than a TV show. I knew it was an opportunity to change the narrative. For more than 30 years, there had not been a Black woman leading a primetime drama. I wanted to be part of a story that filled that gap and reflected the complexity, power, and intelligence of Black women. Shonda Rhimes imagined Olivia Pope in a way that was fearless and unapologetic. She saw her as a woman in control, a strategist, a leader, and then she brought it to life in a way that honored the brilliance of Black women while showing the world that we belong in these spaces. And then there was Kerry Washington. From day one, it was clear that she had the talent, discipline, and nuance to carry this story. She made Olivia Pope unforgettable not because of a role on a screen but because of the humanity, strength, and intelligence she brought to every scene. Together, we were able to bring together vision, craft and leadership and create something historic. Scandal is a show that has been beloved, studied, and celebrated for years. To the Gladiators, thank you for embracing this show in the way that you did. Knowing that we opened doors for others has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

I created an unpaid ad for @callherdaddy cuz I was obsessed with the #scandal #gladiator era 2012 😂 all the while dealing with RSD (rejection sensitivity dysphoria in secret during that whole timeline, it wasn't a real conversation back then). The confidence by Olivia Pope I was highly attached too - as the tv script did not reflect my own reality that time working at Verizon wireless 🙃🤪 meeting @kerrywashington @alexandracooper briefly in the was my dream manifested. It's kinda nice looking back in my previous inspiration and reminding myself how I've leaped my life forward ten fold. I mean it's not a perfect life but it's mine at least and no one has done edits on it except me. Find your inspiration, live it, and Sliv it. Olivia Pope made it look good but, what no one ever told US was being a FIXER is tiring mentality, physically, and emotionally. Before my grandmother died years ago she asked me a question. She said " while you are fixing everything for everyone Who fixes things for you?" I looked and her thought about it for a few minutes then lowered my head and said nobody 😢 that was a real epiphany.
