👇 Learn more 📚 The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix is widely considered one of the wildest races in Formula One history. Torrential rain caused multiple safety cars, collisions, and even a long red-flag delay that stopped the race for over two hours. When it finally ended, the race had lasted 4 hours, 4 minutes, and 39 seconds, making it the longest race in Formula One history. On lap 7, Jenson Button collided with teammate Lewis Hamilton, which caused a puncture that forced Hamilton to retire and required Button to pit for repairs. Later in the race, he attempted to pass Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, but the two made contact, sending Alonso into the wall and forcing Button to pit again. Button was also given a drive-through penalty for speeding behind the safety car, dropping him down the order and leaving him last and more than a minute behind the leader at one stage. Despite all of that, as the track slowly dried late in the race, Button began an extraordinary comeback, passing car after car as the laps counted down. On the final lap, race leader Sebastian Vettel made a small mistake and slid wide on the damp track, allowing Button to slip past and take the lead.
