This image features a post from the Facebook page Black Then highlighting a lesser-known piece of Disney history. It points out that The Princess and the Frog isn't Disney's only major animation featuring African American leads, bringing attention to the 2000 short film John Henry. Based on the famous American folklore, the story follows a freed slave whose legendary strength allowed him to outwork a steam-powered drill with his sledgehammer. The post celebrates the film for portraying a powerful Black role model and for its unique art style, reminding audiences of the rich cultural stories Disney has explored beyond their traditional princess lineup. #JohnHenry #DisneyHistory #BlackFolklore #Animation #RepresentationMatters

Elizabeth of York — sister to King Edward IV and Richard III — married John de la Pole, Duke of Suffolk, tying the House of York to one of England’s most powerful families. After the fall of Richard III, her son, the Earl of Lincoln, would support a Yorkist rebellion against Henry VII. She never wore a crown. But her lineage nearly unsettled a new dynasty. 👑🌹 #historicalreel #historyreel #historyrevealed #britishhistory #lovehistory

Hollywood. November 7, 1957. Originally recorded for his first LP in March of fifty-six with a minimalist arrangement from conductor Jack Fascinato, Ernie’s love for the traditional folk-blues song ‘John Henry’ is evident in every line and every verse.... A classic. @tennesseeernieford @countrymusichof @birthplaceofcountrymusicmuseum @nbc #ClassicTV #JohnHenry #folksongs #steeldrivingman
Craig Breslow was asked if there was a mandate from ownership to trade Devers to a team that would assume his whole salary: “…There was no mandate. The mandate is to assemble the best team that we possibly could. And in order to do that, we needed to create a more functional roster. And give certain guys more playing time, be able to rotate through the DH spot, potentially matchup there. “This is a roster that certainly has some needs, and we can talk about starting pitching and bullpen help and we think that we addressed some of those in the return that we had in this deal. But additionally, I do think that it gives us some resources, like I said, as we head towards the deadline.” #redsox #mlb #redsoxnation #redsoxbaseball #fenway #fenwaypark #redsoxfan #greenmonster #wallythegreenmonster #goredsox #letsgoredsox #gosox #sox #soxnation #craigbreslow #breslow #rafaeldevers #devers #raffy #raffydevers #fenwaysportsgroup #fsg #johnhenry
The illusion was first described by the Neapolitan scholar Giambattista della Porta in 1584. In 1862 John Henry Pepper adapted it for the stage—London audiences went wild. The principle is simple: a angled sheet of glass reflects an object from a hidden room, creating a semi-transparent “ghost” on stage. The brain can’t tell the image is in another plane and treats it as a real object. The largest use is in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland: a glass panel 27 meters long and 9 meters high. The same principle was used for the Tupac “hologram” at Coachella in 2012—it wasn’t a hologram, it was glass and a projector. DM for credit or removal.
Justin (@countrygentlemancooks) and I recorded “John Henry” because every time he and I and Dom Flemons played with Joe Thompson he would start by asking what we wanted to play – which was a rhetorical question because he would start with “John Henry” every single time! This track and video were recorded at his home in Mebane, NC. Did school teach you to become wealthy—or just dependable? Most people struggle to imagine earning $1 million, and that’s no coincidence. Entrepreneur Dan Henry argues that modern education was shaped decades ago by figures like John D. Rockefeller, not to create millionaires, but to produce reliable workers who could run the system. Classrooms prioritized consistency over innovation, preparing students to follow rather than lead. The real question is whether you’re living by design or by choice. To achieve wealth, you first need to expand your mindset beyond what you were taught and learn to think bigger. #DanHenry #WealthMindset Success starts with the right mindset.
