The perfect monday.
The weather was spectacular, the trees are blooming, the wind was blowing ever so slightly— it was the perfect spring day.
We ran all the errands, planned for the week, and enjoyed some time outside. I hope you had a lovely Monday!

I stood in the shower the other day hoping my baby and older children would be content long enough for me to relax and get a full undisturbed shower.
That’s when the curtain wiggled and two tiny hands plopped down in the water and began splashing. I smiled, scooped up the baby, took off the sleeper and diaper and plopped her down on the shower floor to splash happily and that’s when I knew,
The less ‘breaks’ I look for, the more joy I have. I could’ve spent that shower so frustrated my ‘break’ was ruined and her fresh sleeper was wet, cursing motherhood for its demands (that’s what the devil wants, he wants us to curse what’s been given as a blessing!). I could’ve even found a way to be annoyed with my husband for the freedom he gets from not being the primary parent, but instead I received so much joy from the interruption. The chunky legs, tiny fingers, big splashes, happy babbles, all would’ve been missed if I chose to complain about my blessings. All missed if I’m too focused on myself. Easy in a society that shoves selfishness down your throat but parenting is the most self sacrificing thing you can do!
If I’m always looking for a break, a momentary escape, it feels so disappointing when a moment I thought I had is interrupted. It’s like the yellow car theory. If you look for yellow cars you’ll find them but you’ll miss everything else in the process.
If all you’re looking for is a break, you’ll miss all kinds of joy in between!
It’s true for anything in life! The more you focus on what’s wrong, the less you’ll see what’s going incredibly right.
And once I realized how much joy I receive in those moments I had intended as a break, I realized I didn’t need a break at all, I was just focusing on the wrong thing!
