One of the Jump Rope Stations I always have my kiddos doing is working on turning and jumping as a team in 1st and 2nd grade by learning some jump rope rhymes . Jumping, jumping, having fun How many jumps until your done? 1, 2 , 3 ... who can get 10 jumps? 🤯 . Focusing on Big Slow Circles and Turning like looking into a Mirror with your Partner . We use a 10 foot rope for this activity and it's a great way to lead up into using a large team rope (16 footer) . #physed #iteachpe #peteacher #teacherlife
One of the biggest game changers in my jump rope unit? Jump Rope Ninja. 🥷 It gives students something to work toward. Instead of just “keep jumping,” they’re chasing levels, earning skills, and setting personal goals. And let’s be honest — jump roping can be EXHAUSTING. 🥵 But when there’s a goal involved? They keep going. They push through. They try again. Jump Rope Ninja turns practice into purpose and adds a fun, motivating twist to the entire unit. Confidence grows. Stamina improves. And the excitement stays high from start to finish.✨ Want my Jump Rope Ninja Pack to use with your class? Here's a great Jump Rope alternative option for a kiddo who has a cast, arm sling or only one arm or hand with the ability to hold a rope💡 . As long as they can still jump, or do a rocker step they can learn to twirl a jump rope baton and practice their jump rope skills . You can buy your own or make one with a stick, rope and a whiffle ball . #physed #iteachpe #peteacher #teacherlife
During week 3 of our Jump Rope Unit with 2nd - 5th we add in The Thunderstick Challenge as our warmup activity . 1/2 the class does the challenge at a time and then switch after about 90 seconds . The other 1/2 is jogging and jumping hurdles and doing footwork ladders on the perimeter of the gym (or you can have them practice jumprope skills) . If the rope hits your feet, you join the joggers/walkers... who will be left at the end??? . #physed #iteachpe #pe #peteacher
Making jump rope accessible for ALL students 🙌 This is my version of Matt Barker’s @digittheape adapted jump rope, designed especially for my adapted PE students so everyone can experience success, movement, and confidence during our jump rope unit. Small equipment modifications can make a HUGE difference in participation, independence, and joy in physical education 💛 Adapted PE is all about meeting students where they are — and sometimes that starts with creating the right tool. 👉 Follow for more fun adapted PE equipment ideas, inclusive activities, and creative ways to make PE work for every learner! #AdaptedPE #PhysicalEducation #InclusivePE #PEteacher #AdaptiveEquipment
Even with guidelines and routines, the jump rope unit is a toughie. Too many tapping handles and knots. Sooo many knots. 😅 #peteacher #peteachersofinstagram #physicaleducation #physed #jumprope
💡 PE Hack: Turn a broken jump-rope into a reaction/timing tool by tying a deck ring to it and spinning it around — kids stay in a circle and time their jumps as it comes around! 🎯 National Standard: Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. 📘 Scope & Sequence: Grade Band K–2: Locomotor skills — rhythmic jumping, timing & spatial awareness; Grade Band 3–5: Refines jump timing, reaction time, and cooperative group engagement. #Giveitatry👏👉 #jumprope Follow me on TikTok & Twitter X Search: Coach Gelardi #physed #peathome #hpeathome peforall distancelearningpe physicaleducation elementaryPE pe peforall peathome peteachersleadbyexample peteachersrock peteacherlife peteacher physicaleducation pehack pehacks physedteacher physed elementarype peforall ilovepe peclass pewarmup distancelearningpe coachgelardi physedzone peclassroom peteachers peteacher ‎@nike ‎@PUMA ‎@newbalance ‎@SesameWorkshop ‎@GMA ‎@underarmour All opinions are my own and do not represent my employer. Not every student learns jump rope the same way… and that’s okay 👏 If jump rope feels frustrating for some students, a few simple adaptations can completely change the experience — building confidence, success, and inclusion in physical education. Here are 4 adapted PE jump rope ideas I use to help every student participate and succeed: ✨ Magic Doughnut — a cut pool noodle added to the middle of the rope helps students successfully get the rope over their head. 🔢 Jump Rope Counter — keeps all students included and engaged during Jump Rope Ninja while tracking progress. 🌀 Teacher-Spun Noodle Rope — slows the movement so students can visually track when to jump. 🌈 Long Noodle Sweep — gently bringing the noodle over each student’s head helps them anticipate timing and confidently jump. Adaptations like these make jump rope more accessible, more successful, and way more fun for everyone in PE. 👉 Follow for more adapted PE equipment ideas, inclusive activities, and physical education strategies you can use tomorrow! #AdaptedPE #PhysicalEducation #PEteacher #InclusivePE #physed
