A programmer named Shigeki Morimoto had secretly added Mew as a prank 2 weeks before launch. He hid it in the leftover space from deleted debug code. It was only meant for the developers to enjoy. But when players found Mew through glitches, the mystery exploded. Everyone wanted the secret Pokemon. Sales went from monthly numbers to weekly numbers. Pokemon went from failing to number 1 in Japan. Tomorrow is Pokemon Day. 30 years. But without Mew, there is no 30 years.
