Twelve-year-old Kazem Abbas lives in a remote village in the town of Al-Faw, south of Basra, Iraq, surrounded by desert. His mother built him a simple procession stand made of palm leaves, an old blanket, and a woman’s cloak—his small sanctuary to serve the pilgrims of Imam Hussain (AS). With the little money his father gives him, Kazem buys water and juice to distribute to those walking towards Karbala, believing that even the smallest offering holds great value in the scale of love for Imam Hussain. Kazem lives under difficult circumstances. His sister has a disability, and his brother is living with autism. Fatima, who helps him at these moments of service, is even younger than he is. His most heartfelt dream is for his sister to be healed so she, too, can join him in this path of selfless giving. It’s hard to believe… but it’s come to an end. 💔 Nearly 2 months of khidma, from London to Karbala. Most have already made their way back home. What an honour it was to serve in London at The Hyderi Arbaeen Walk, and then to continue that service in the blessed land of Karbala. These moments, these nights, these tears, this khidma, will stay with us forever. In’sha’Allah, with His mercy, we will return next year again to serve the zuwar of Aba Abdillah(as). Serving the needs of others is a way to become closer to Allah (swt). the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The Muslim is the brother of the Muslim, he doesn't oppress him and doesn't put him into ruin, and whoever is concerned for the needs of his brother, Allah is concerned for his needs, and whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens of the Day of Judgement and whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) on the Day of Judgement." #muhammadalshareef #legacy #khidma

Mawlana Hazar Imam has approved a set of new guidelines for our uniformed volunteers who render service day in, day out, in Jamatkhanas and beyond.
