Now that’s a dupe.😉 I’ve always loved the designer version of this light fixture and have considered it in past projects—but with a $2,500–$3,500 price tag per fixture, it’s definitely a splurge.😅💸 While sourcing for a recent client’s kitchen, I stumbled across this lookalike and thought it had to be too good to be true. But after seeing it in person? Kitchen lighting - 100% the most important lighting in the home and I went DEEP into this one! As promised here are some details: In a space where you need it to be well lit, or cosy and intimate it really needs more than a builder grade downlight grid and instead, lots of layers. So what I landed on… Circuit 1 - surface mounted ceiling spotlights from @corstonarchitecturaldetail, these are angled onto the island for task lighting and onto some key cabinets. Circuit 2 - wall lights, and led lighting. Here I wanted to focus on the details, illuminate the corners and add draw the eye up. Circuit 3 - the island pendant lights from @jimlawrencemade. We hung these low to really make the island feel cosy at night. Circuit 4 - the dining table pendant light from @lighting_direct. …oh and they are all on dimmers. Lighting is such an important layer in kitchen design — thoughtful placement makes all the difference. Here are a few of our go-to pendant tips: - We typically like to hang pendants anywhere from 32”-36” from the top of countertop to the bottom of light fixture depending on the ceiling height and the height of our clients. - For multiple pendants, ensure they are sized appropriately: Use smaller pendants (8”–12” wide) if hanging 3 or more and larger pendants (14”–20”+) work well in pairs. Sometimes we’ll do one linear chandelier in place of pendants. - Space pendants at least 24”-30” apart (measured from the center of each pendant) depending on the size of the island. - Leave 12”-18” between the edge of the island and the edge of the nearest pendant. - Sometimes forgotten but we like to align with key features by visually anchoring pendants to the cabinetry or architectural lines (like beams). Or if you have a sink in the island, center the pendants around it for a more intentional look. Our kitchen pendants are the Melrose with the matte black exterior and brass interior. They have an 18” dome and different color options if you want a cord or cloth.
