Last year, my first movie in theaters was A Hip-Hop Story, where I had the absolute honor to pay homage to the legendary Queen Latifah @queenlatifah 👑 —a woman who embodies elegance, grit, and undeniable royalty!
Stepping into her shoes, rapping opposite Lil Mama (aka MC Lyte), and working with an absolutely hilarious and incredible cast—directed by Damaine Radcliff, starring and produced by Affion Crockett, alongside Cedric the Entertainer, Wayne Brady, Lil Rel, and more—was surreal.
- Her legacy spans music, film, beauty, business, and culture. She shattered barriers, redefined hip-hop, and proved that #Blackwomen in entertainment can do it ALL - with power, grace, and unstoppable talent💐!!
In celebration of her birthday and Women’s History Month, thank you to the Queen for blazing trails and inspiring generations!
It was an honor to step into her shoes (and rap 🤭) as someone I’ve always admired—the one and only Queen Latifah 👑🙌🏾!!

Everyone feels small sometimes. 😔 I remember a particular moment when I’d spiraled deep into comparison...
I was looking at everyone else, seeing how amazing they were, and feeling like I was a mere turd. 🤡😅
I felt tiny. Yet my desire to hit a specific goal called me to play big.
I brought myself back to self-love and compassion with my four touchstones for getting back on track to play big when I feel small. 👇
1️⃣ Spend time with people who are playing a “big” game.
Big is relative, of course, but it just needs to feel expansive to you. And by osmosis, it rubs off on you.
If you don’t have anyone in your circle who you feel is playing big, read biographies about them, listen to their podcasts, and read their blog.
2️⃣ Disconnect
There will be people in your world who, when you’re in their field, make you feel small.
It’s not their fault. It’s simply something about them that triggers you.
Stop spending time with these people for a bit.
You’ll feel way more valuable when you keep your eyes on your paper.
3️⃣ Why are you extraordinary?
Write a list of your accomplishments, things you’re proud of, and ways you’re unique. Refer to the list whenever you feel small.
Keep this list in a note on your phone and add to it regularly.
Oh and... don't just read this and think, "well, that's nice!" Go do it. Put pen to paper. Now!
4️⃣ Take action
When I focus on my mission and how I can be of value to other people, I get moving and do my work.
When I follow through and do the things I say I’m going to do, get out there, and be of service, I don’t feel so small anymore.
