An unforgettable event at @laopera for the private unveiling of Enrique Martínez Celaya’s monumental new stage curtain. Standing in front of this masterwork gave me absolute chills the sheer scale and artistry completely take your breath away. You have to experience it in person. ✨🎭 #LAOpera #EnriqueMartinezCelaya #LosAngeles #art

Send this to a friend you’d bring here! In the age of AI slop, LA Opera commissioned a former laser physicist to paint something no algorithm can. The curtain spans roughly 70 feet across the stage for the 2026-27 season, and it’s a painting, not a mural. As Celaya puts it, a curtain has a life in time. The building is a lesson in mid century architecture in LA. Welton Becket and Associates, the firm behind the Capitol Records Building and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, designed it in 1964 in the New Formalist style, with Parthenon-inspired columns reimagined in midcentury curves. Inside are a chartreuse staircase, brass and tile details, and octagon handles on the theater doors. After the reception, a rare look inside the Founders Room, with its crystal chandeliers and wood paneling. A must-see for anyone looking for things to do in downtown LA, art installations in Los Angeles, or LA architecture tours. A huge thank you to the @laopera for the invite! I’m really excited to plan a trip to see Carmen here! #LAOpera #DorothyChandlerPavilion #LosAngelesArchitecture #MidCenturyModern #ladesign

Getting together with our community and watching West Side Story while the sun sets was 💯 an unforgettable experience.   This past weekend, more than 4,000 visitors came out to Santa Monica Pier and Loma Alta Park to share in the joy of the arts. Thank you to everyone who came and especially to LA County Supervisors @lindseyphorvath & @supervisorkathrynbarger, the @cityofSantaMonica and @visitaltadena for making an event like this possible!   #LAOpera #WestSideStory #LAOWestSideStory #SantaMonicaPier #Altadena

It’s a rare treat to see one of my favorite operas performed in my city with such an incredible production. Always with the best company @arya_badiola Huge thanks to @laopera for this amazing experience 🎥🎶 #Turandot has always held a special place in my musical journey, featuring some of the most beautiful arias and scores in opera history. #Puccini remains one of my favorite composers. #opera #italianopera #Turandot #LAOpera #LosAngelesMusic
