Traditional blocking often relies on pre-determined schemes, but this Long Beach State practice footage highlights a highly reactive, technical approach to blocking. 🏐 1. Reactive Reading vs. Pre-Set Positions In this drill, you see blockers reacting to the coach’s attack from the boxes. There is no “call” to close a specific lane. The blocker must read the hips and shoulders of the attacker to determine the angle of the swing. This develops “active” eyes and better kinesthetic awareness. 2. The 40cm Rope Constraint By tensioning a rope roughly 40 centimeters above the net, coaches force players to prioritize penetration over height. If a player reaches “up” to find height, they hit the rope or create a gap between their arms and the net. 3. Reducing the Gap The goal is to press the hands over the net as fast as possible to reduce the distance between the ball and the hands. The closer your hands are to the ball at the moment of contact, the more court you “surface” and the less time the hitter has to find a tool. Coaches: Do you use physical constraints like ropes or elastic bands to fix “reaching” habits in your blockers? #VolleyballTraining #LBSU #VolleyballBlock #Unityvolleyball

Play like the pros to kill more good/bad/ugly sets in 2024 @spikeracademy Hawaii, LBSU, PSU and UCLA are the best at using this. No surprise they were all in the final 4. With the bent elbow you have more strength and precision to hit edges of the block, push after resistance down through the block (this action ^^^) swipe outside the court and the bent elbow 🇵🇱 tip which is picking up steam all across Europe. Straight arm tip should only be used to throw or jam, rather than to tip the ball in an upwards motion. #Tip2Kill don’t just tip. @spikeracademy Video @nekobavisuals 🔥
