Sometimes, when you’re so immersed in a project, it’s hard to fully appreciate the work that’s gone into it, and the growth that’s happened along the way. The final stretch is often a hard slog, with install days filled with nerves, followed by a crash rather than celebrations. Once a leadlight has been built it is important for it to be puttied on both sides to create extra strength and waterproof the panel. A black putty mixture is carefully oozed up under the lead came between it and each piece of glass. The excess putty is penciled away then the panel is cleaned by lightly scrubbing with a lime mixture. From here the panel is polished which treats the lead and solder and also serves as a clean/buff to bring out the beauty in each individual piece of glass and every lead line + solder joint.
