آبشار Lechfall در پایان آخرین عصر یخبندان (حدود ۱۲ هزار سال پیش) شکل گرفته. وقتی یخچال‌ها آب شدند، یک دریاچه بزرگ به نام «Frontensee» تو این منطقه به وجود اومد
رودخانه لِخ یکی از آخرین رودخانه‌های نسبتاً وحشی در اروپاست که هنوز بخش‌هایی از اون آزادانه جریان داره
تنگه (Klamm) کنار آبشار طی هزاران سال فقط با نیروی آب در دل سنگ‌ها تراشیده شده.
سنگ‌های این منطقه حدود ۲۳۵ میلیون سال قدمت دارند و زمانی در کف یک دریای گرمسیری قرار داشتند
این آبشار در شهر Füssen قرار داره که اسم شهر از واژه لاتین «Fauces» گرفته و به معنی «گلوگاه» یا «تنگه» هست؛ اشاره مستقیم به همین شکاف باریک کنار آبشار داره!
