This leather sectional from @crateandbarrel isn’t cheap — pieces like this can easily run around $10,000.
But like a lot of leather furniture, it had started showing scratching, dryness, and general wear.
The good news: it didn’t need restoration — it just needed proper cleaning and protection.
For this job I kept it simple:
• Lexol Leather Cleaner
• Obenauf's Leather Preservative
• Fabric-coated sponges for application
After a deep clean, the wax coat helps condition the leather and add a protective layer so it continues to age well.
When you invest in quality leather furniture, maintenance is what protects that investment.

But now who wants to help me move it back to the living room 😂
.
Okay, so what’s with the eraser? GENTLY use the eraser to buff out any cuts or scuffs.
.
Then we start buffing with the pad and the leather CPR.
.
And we add the leather conditioner to help prevent it from drying out like that again.

Regular maintenance over repair or replacing should always be the goal. A simple thing like a quick conditioning can keep your leather fresh and protected for a lifetime!

Me: I love a DIY project.
Also me: has never restored leather in my life.
Send help. 😅
What products ACTUALLY work for leather restoration? Saddle Soap? Scratch Doctor? Renapur? I need real answers from people who’ve done this before.
This set was just too gorgeous and perfect for the space to pass up. Buying secondhand is such a win — cheaper than buying new, better for the environment, saves it from landfill, and I get to learn a new skill by restoring it. Win, win, win.
I actually like the worn, lived-in look, so I’m not trying to make it look brand new. I just want to clean it properly, condition it, and make the minor surface cracks a little less noticeable. (Good news: they’re only surface level, not deep.)
Next on the list: a Persian-style rug, maybe a different coffee table, painting the room a moody colour, adding a bookcase to the left of the wood burner, and a rustic wooden mantel above the fire… Think old English gentleman’s room vibes.
