TŌN Music Director and @bardcollege President Leon Botstein invites you to discover the forgotten music of “Jewish Composers in Exile”, Nov 4 & 5 at @fishercenterbard and Nov 7 at @carnegiehall . Link in bio for tickets & info.
“This program features four composers, all of whom had to flee Europe during the 1930s as a result of being Jewish. It is a commentary on the struggle of European Jews to find a safe haven in a world that was expelling them and towards a world where nobody wanted them. This is an exploration of how music can be a way artists come to terms with the displacement of exile.”

#Applause for the #AmericanSymphonyOrchestra conducted by #LeonBotstein … who performed Richard Strauss’s ‘Daphne’ … its first performance in New York in more than 15 years. And In an even rarer presentation, the ASO performed the opera’s a cappella choral epilogue, ‘An den Baum Daphne (To the Daphne Tree).’ Transportive!!
