Vejam que demais o exato momento em que uma aranha “Linothele sericata” preda uma larva de besouro que foi colocada bem no meio de sua densa teia….
Essa espécie diminuta do gênero “Linothele” conta com quase 70 espécies distintas que integram a família “Dipluridae” e não a toa são popularmente chamadas de aranhas-teia-de-funil….
Essas aranhas ocorrem na América do Sul, sobretudo na Colômbia, Equador e Peru e são conhecidas por sua aparência única e comportamento bastante interessante….
A “Linothele sericata” é bem pequena com corpo alongado e comprimento de cerca de 1,5 cm, seu cefalotórax é de cor marrom-escuro, com um padrão de linhas claras e suas pernas são bem longas e finas com coloração marrom-clara.
Trata-se de uma aranha noturna, que passa a maior parte do tempo escondida em buracos ou sob rochas e durante a noite sai para caçar insetos e pequenos animais!
A reprodução dessa é um processo complexo, que inclui um ritual de cortejo dos machos e a construção de um saco de ovos ( ooteca) pelas fêmeas, estrutura que pode conter até 100 ovos.
A incubação dura cerca de 2 meses, e os filhotes atingem maturidade sexual em apenas um ano.
Embora não seja considerada espécie ameaçada, sua população está diminuindo devido à perda de habitat…

This girl just matured and i thought it was due for an enclosure upgrade.
They look so good when they are younger because of that vibrant gold they have but it fades off when matured, they get alot darker to the point of being iridescent blue but still a very cool spider, the webbing they make is crazy, hence the name “curtain web spider”
Looking forward for her to cover up the entire enclosure.

The beautiful Linothele megatheliodes. The Columbian Funnel Web Spider (actually a curtain web) This is by far one of the coolest species in my collection and I have 2 sp "aqua" coming next week. These Linothele are extremely fast ambush spiders they make web like no other.
