NOT Gate (Inverter) – A NOT Gate is the simplest digital logic gate that inverts the input signal. 🔹 Logic Expression: Y = Ā 🔹 Working: Input 0 → Output 1 Input 1 → Output 0 🔹 Key Idea: The output is always the opposite (complement) of the input. Half Adder LearnEngg presents a simple and clear explanation of the Half Adder, focusing on its working principle, logic gate structure, and binary addition process, widely used in digital electronics and computing applications. In this video, the following concepts are explained clearly: What is a Half Adder? A Half Adder is a digital circuit that performs the addition of two binary inputs and produces Sum and Carry outputs. Working Principle It works using basic logic gates to perform binary addition of two single-bit inputs. Logic Gate Structure A Half Adder uses an XOR gate to generate the Sum and an AND gate to generate the Carry. Operation When inputs A and B are applied, the XOR gate gives the Sum output, and the AND gate gives the Carry output. Truth Table The outputs vary based on input combinations (00, 01, 10, 11), producing corresponding Sum and Carry values. Applications Half Adders are used in digital circuits, arithmetic operations, and as building blocks for full adders in computing systems. This LearnEngg video is ideal for Electronics, ITI, and Diploma Engineering students, helping learners clearly understand the working principle, logic design, and applications of the Half Adder. The Great Contradictor: The NOT Gate 🔄 Ever wondered how a computer says "No"? While most logic gates look for agreement, the NOT gate is the ultimate rebel—it takes whatever you give it and does the exact opposite. This is the Inverter, the gate that turns logic on its head. How it works: • The Setup: We have a single NPN transistor connected between the supply voltage and the ground. • The Logic: Unlike the AND gate, the output is taken from above the transistor. When the input is "Low" (0), the transistor stays closed, forcing the current to flow directly to the output. • The Result: When you turn the transistor "On" (High/1), it creates a shortcut straight to the ground. The current takes the path of least resistance, leaving the output at 0. One goes in, zero comes out. Without this simple ability to flip a signal, we wouldn't have memory cells, clocks, or complex processors. Sometimes, to move forward, you just have to say "NOT." ⚡️ #EngineeringMindset #DigitalLogic #ComputerScience #Transistor #ElectricalEngineering
