If you’ve followed my other reels you’ve seen my daughter had epilepsy. Her doctors told us she had run out of pharmaceutical options to treat her seizures. We didn’t know what else to do. So, we fought for another option in an effort to save her. But, she was never able to try it to see if it would work. Many others, however, have benefited from the work. So many parents and I brought awareness and education to this option, epilepsy and other conditions. A beautiful Monday morning with the sweetest little pony. Sweetie was originally a rescue pony before coming to her previous owners and then to Andrea, and we are so blessed to be able to share in loving on her. She is absolutely #somebodyloved 💞 This was the first time in weeks we’ve had the saddle on Sweetie, with all the rubbish weather! I had a good lunge round with her before the girls took turns riding, and she was such a good girl with them both. We're working on her responding to the girls when they’re riding without the lead, rather than Sweetie always looking to me to lead... We persevered and ended the morning with some fab little circuits round the barn where she was really listening to both girls. 💞 What a delight. 🍬 📽️ Sophie and Lydia took over my phone til the last ride in the barn. I’ve always found peace with the combination of sun and water. As did my daughter. It reminds me of her and the times we had as a family enjoying it together. Hard to believe this year she is gone 8 years. The first summer after my daughter died I tried to stuff and hide the sadness. That was just messy and didn’t work. It was just a mask that eventually needed to come off. 💗 Working through grief of any kind isn’t easy. But, if we don’t feel all the feels it eventually bubbles up elsewhere in our life. 💗 As hard as it is, we have to feel it, to heal it. 💗 We will go through some dark times. We may cry. We may scream and we may even laugh and wonder why. All part of healing. 💗 I’ve always said I’ll never move on from my loss but damn it all, I will move forward. While Sophie had a day with one of her besties, I got a day with the Little One. We don't often get one on one time together! We went for a favourite woodland walk, and it was gorgeous...but didn't quite go to plan. The ticks were out en force 😱 (sorry if you're squeamish - I can't stand them and they make me feel panicky 😅) and it got VERY hot. 🥵 So, we relocated our picnic spot to less woods and more rock (I'm thankful we know this woodland well!), shortened the walk to a smaller circuit and stopped for ice cream at Elaine's on the way back. Then we went and jumped in the river. Really the only sane place to be after ticks and sweating buckets. 🤣🤣🤣 The blue skies are welcome though! #keepinitreal #rachelinthedalespottery #motherandpotterlife #lovinglydia #woodlandwalk #tickawareness #riverswimming #backtoschoolsoon #theygrowfast #summerhols #summeradventures #maketime #thankfilledlife
