Riddhi’s Sub-Adult Male Tiger Exclusive It was a hot afternoon drive into Zone 4. We were the first jeep to enter and the moment we crossed the gate, something about the forest felt… different. It was breathtakingly silent. No alarm calls, no movement. Not even a single animal. Just that haunting stillness… the kind that makes you hold your breath without even realising it. About 15 minutes in, we spotted pugmarks. Fresh ones. For almost 1-2 kilometers. We knew something was up…and we followed. Every turn, every stretch of track…we were sure he was just ahead. And then… they disappeared. But before disappointment could sink in, my guide’s eyes caught a flash, a tiger, walking away, heading toward Zone 3. We rushed to the spot, thinking we had missed it. But then…magic!!! He turned around… and walked straight back towards us. No one else around. Just us… and him. A full 15–20 minutes of undisturbed exclusive beauty. He walked head-on, paused, stared, and made the forest feel alive again. It was one of those sightings that fills you up. Not just visually, but emotionally. Full credit to my guide’s sharp eyes and our driver’s calm presence. We tracked him. We saw him. And for a while, it felt like he saw us too. Moments like these… this is why I come back to the wild. .
