Welcome foster 59, Lupa the GSD puppy ❤️🩹 @bully.baloo
This sweet little angel has already been through so much at such a young age, and I can’t wait to help her heal and watch her blossom into the spunky, sassy little puppy I know she’ll become. Lupa has sarcoptic mange, hookworms, roundworms, and tapeworms and will need to be quarantined in our foster space to receive the medical care she desperately needs for the next few days. Please feel free to donate to her care at caitiesfosterfam.org/donate (direct links in blo) ❤️🩹

Mange-affected Wombats before and after treatment!
Through our Community Mange Treatment program, WIRES is helping give communities the knowledge and resources to treat wombat mange.
Mange is a life-threatening disease caused by the parasitic mite, Sarcoptes scabiei. The mite burrows into the skin of its host, causing thick plaques, resulting in hair loss and open wounds.

Celebrating World Wombat Day 💚
Wombats are among Australia’s most beloved native animals, but sadly, over 90% of their populations are affected by mange.
Mange is a painful skin condition caused by mites that burrow into a wombat’s skin. Left untreated, it can be fatal.
WIRES’ Community Mange volunteers, Clare and Ian, alongside their son Harvey, visit 4 to 6 properties each week, offering vital treatment to wombats suffering from mange.
This World Wombat Day, WIRES extends heartfelt thanks to Clare, Ian, Harvey, and all our amazing Community Mange Treaters. Their tireless efforts make a huge difference to the lives of so many wombats.
We also want to thank @Bravectoau for their incredible support, helping us provide mange treatments to volunteers across Australia.
Help Wombats In Need:
📞 Report mange-affected wombats to WIRES
🚗 Drive carefully at dawn and dusk, when they’re most active
⚠️ If you find a deceased wombat on the road, check for surviving joeys in the pouch
