Te Putahi Maori o Manurewa A special event this morning as the Maori community came together in Manurewa to celebrate the opening of Te Putahi o Manurewa. This new school brings together the vision held by our ancestors to have integration of Maori learning from our babies to our senior secondary school. The tamariki looked in awe as the new school was unveiled to them. This is a bold step away from the classroom style of schools in the past and fosters a learning environment conducive to Te Aho Matua. Big praise goes to all of the people that made this kaupapa happen. Those who fought for the language to be taught and my whanaunga Mahia Nathan who led the fight for the school to have its own premises and new buildings. Well done to one and all who were involved. For those that follow this page you may recall several years ago my colleague Kelvin Davis announced the funding when we visited the old school which was a few prefabs plonked together.
