Plot
As a child, Masamune Makabe was a chubby, soft-hearted boy who was cruelly rejected and nicknamed "Piggy" by the wealthy and beautiful Aki Adagaki. Fueled by the pain of heartbreak, Masamune spends years undergoing a grueling transformation, reinventing himself as a handsome, fit, and narcissistic high school student. His goal? The "Dead or Love" plan: make Aki fall madly in love with him, then break her heart in the most humiliating way possible. However, as he navigates the complexities of high school life and starts getting closer to the "Brutal Princess," he discovers that revenge isn't as simple—or as sweet—as he originally thought.

Why it’s legendary
Masamune-kun's Revenge is a classic "glow-up" story that flips the typical rom-com script on its head. It’s legendary for its high-tension psychological games and the "will-they-won't-they" dynamic driven by spite rather than just affection. The show excels at exploring the vulnerability behind Masamune's polished exterior and the secrets Aki hides behind her cold personality. With its sharp art style and the highly anticipated conclusion in Season 2 (Masamune-kun no Revenge R), it remains a staple for fans who love a mix of petty drama, heartfelt growth, and satisfying character development.
