Every year in June or July, the Indigenous Māori community in Aotearoa New Zealand celebrate their New Year, known as Matariki. For the latest chapter of The Travel Project, we had the privilege of learning about the traditions revolving around Matariki with @ngamako_rota - a young Māori woman who was chosen to lead her iwi’s Hautapu (a ritual in which the stars are fed).
