Not to be a broken record but, I’ve been in your shoes 👞 My husband and I were supposed to be east coasters and had 4 year orders for Cherry Point, NC. One year after being there we were sort of “voluntold” to go to Yuma, AZ. We had just bought a house, I was just finding my group of friends, we were in a groove! I was not happy to say the least. Fast forward a few years, we believe it was the best thing to ever happen to us. We were “bloomed where we were planted.” My husband has been able to advance greatly in his career and I myself have grown my career here substantially. Through our time here, we’ve made some of the best friends and had amazing experiences that wouldn’t have happened had we stayed on the east coast. The community here is unmatched, as are the opportunities. Have I even mentioned the places within driving distance?? (Hello San Diego, LA, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tuscon, the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Palm Springs…I mean, the list doesn’t stop! ) Yuma itself has grown exponentially in the past 5 years and no signs of it slowing down! Developers are working endlessly to build up new subdivisions, and new businesses are popping up left and right. It’s really a neat place and we’ve grown to love it. First, I can give LOTS of info based on my own life experience having lived in a couple of different parts of Yuma! If you’re military, the good news is that MCAS Yuma is pretty central! That said, which area is right for you? If you have children, it’s time to start looking at the schools! Oftentimes for military, one of the biggest deciders when it comes to where to look is where you decide you want to send your kiddos for school! (Having school aged children, we can talk lots about this if you give me a call!) If you’re in healthcare and work at the main hospital, you’re going to want to look within the radius of the hospital if you have to report to work within a certain time frame in case of emergency. Some neighborhoods in the Foothills may be too far for example. I can pull that report if it helps! If you’re border patrol, you’ll probably want to look based on where you’re based if commute time is important to you! OR again, based on where you want to send your kiddos to school! Private? Public? Homeschool? Homeschool Co-Op? I could go on and on but it’s definitely a personal decision that is totally different for each family! It’s January 31st, 2024 and the weather is 75 degrees with a slight breeze ☀️ people are out and about enjoying the weather and it’s even better with a yummy beverage and avocado toast from @cafecitoyuma In case you didn’t know, Yuma is known as the lettuce capital of the world (ever noticed where your Romaine is from? 🥬). Over 90% of the world’s lettuce crop is grown here— we have over 180,000 acres of agricultural production! We also have two military bases here. And a large law enforcement population. And some great hiking trails. And really neat residential architecture (the Santa Fe style is my favorite). I love helping others relocate here, and I’d love to help you, too!
