Space junk is a growing problem — and a Marquette startup is working on the solution. 🚀 On this week’s Media Meet, @kallmorris explains how their REACCH system is designed to capture space debris after testing at the International Space Station. In this clip, the team shows how the robotic arm works and the model debris used in their ISS tests. 📺 Watch Media Meet on WNMU-TV this Saturday at 6/5c or Sunday at 2/1c. 💻 Stream anytime on our website or the PBS app. 📻 PublicRadio90 Sun 7:30 AM | Mon 5:30 AM & 3:30 PM #MediaMeet #SpaceDebris #ISS #SpaceTech #MarquetteMI #UpperPeninsula #STEM
TRACERS, but make it tiny! To commemorate TRACERS starting to collect preliminary science data, we created a mini model of the @uofiowa @southwestresearchinstitute @nasa mission! TRACERS (Tandem Reconnection and Cusp Electrodynamics Reconnaissance Satellites) studies the connection between solar wind and the magnetic field surrounding Earth. Read more about TRACERS on the NASA TRACERS blog: https://nasa.gov/tracers . . . . . #losangeles #washingtondc #aerospace #SpaceTech #satellite #spaceinnnovation #aviation #spaceexploration #spaceengineering #aerospaceengineering #spaceindustry #newspace #spacecraft #satellitetechnology #nationalsecurityspace #satelliteinnovation #spacemissions #spacesystems #defensetech #smallsat #millenniumspacesystems #careers #hiring #recruiting #SmallSat #TRACERS #nasa
BioSentinel’s data pulse is live! 📡🚀 This CubeSat is actively sending radiation and biology research back to Earth using the Deep Space Network. With our mini pulse, we get to see that data as it gets sent and received. Science in action, millions of miles away! #spaceresearch #dsn #nasa #artemis #minipulse
CubeSats are compact, standardized nanosatellites used for missions such as Earth observation, communication, and scientific research. They are typically launched as secondary payloads on rockets like SpaceX Falcon 9 or deployed from the International Space Station, which makes access to space more cost-effective. PSL plays a key role by providing system-level training and hands-on guidance, enabling students to design, prototype, and understand real satellite missions rather than just learning theory. #PSL #stem #newzealand🇳🇿 #student #spacex
What systems do you need to include on a mini satellite? Using the upcoming SunCET cubesat as an example, let’s find out! #astronomy #astrophysics #space #aerospaceengineering #engineering

Engineers at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti have formed the newest space-exploration contender on the world stage. Their innovative technology claims to reduce launch costs, planning to put the first Michigander on the moon by 2030. Some are critical of this new agency’s launch strategy, launching towards heavily populated areas on the east side of the state. What new technology will we see out of Michigan next? #ypsilanti #space #michigan #news #fyp
Students at Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School in Brunswick crowded into the gymnasium to have a conversation with two astronauts aboard the International Space Station. One of them was Jessica Meir, who also happens to be from Caribou, Maine. Challenger Learning Center of Maine set the Q and A up to help kids get more interested in STEM learning. @wmtwtv #stem #astronaut #space #nasa
Spacecrafts only get one chance to perform in orbit. CAM Senior Manager Zhuqing Wang recently visited Electro Magnetic Applications (EMA) in Pittsfield to learn how the company tests spacecraft & satellite hardware before launch. EMA replicates radiation environments found in different parts of space to confirm that critical systems, including solar power components, will operate reliably over time. In 2021, EMA received a $429K MA Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (M2I2) grant to enhance its testing infrastructure with new equipment investments. The funding supported timely equipment investments aligned with EMA’s growth, allowing the company to move forward without extending the timeline for expansion. As M2I2 marks 10 years, partnerships like this demonstrate how targeted investments are strengthening advanced manufacturing companies & supporting growth across MA. #CAM #M2I2 #10YearsOfM2I2

MESA Competition at Cal State LA 🦅 🚀🌕 STEM Challenge Spotlight! Students put their creativity and engineering skills to the test by designing the most efficient and sustainable Moon base structure — built not just to stand, but to survive. Through trial and error, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving, every design was carefully planned to endure extreme lunar conditions… even a meteor impact ☄️ Because the future of lunar living isn’t just about building — it’s about building smarter, stronger, and it’s about empowering the next generation to design solutions that keep astronauts safe beyond Earth. #STEM #MoonBase #SpaceInnovation #FutureEngineers #SpaceDesign
