#lego #legopokemon I pissed off a lot of MEGA blocks fan in my charmander review, when I said “mega blocks unsuccessfully captures pokemon geometry” (Which honestly if you guys put ur money where ur mouth is, We wouldn’t even be here with lego pokemon.) Well to prove my point, I bought a discontinued Mega Charizard, to show you exactly just how ba It’s actually really good. There is just articulation everywhere, which makes it extremely posable. Because of mega’s willingness to make any piece in any color, these joint elements also don’t look too conspicuous. These wings are rubber, and were a little strange to mangle on, but the result looks fairly convincing. At $20 it’s roughly about 10 cents per piece. And in general I had fun with with what I think is fairly different system of building things. I think the only bit that I didn’t like was the plastic. Every other connection was painful to put together. It just didn’t snap together like lego would. Correct me if i’m wrong, but I remember reading that mega uses a different plastic? As for smart play charizard, even though it’s big enough to accommodate the smart brick without distorting its proportions, it is still very much chibified for consistency’s sake. And it was definitely designed with sturdiness as a priority over accuracy. As a results, it has some horrendous gaps and this back portion is way too flat. But with that said, this foot is only connected via a technic pin and it falls off way too easily. Personally, I prefer brick built details over dedicated moulded pieces. And in my experience, lego generally does brick build more, but I was surprised at how many new pieces this wave introduced so that’s kind of a moot point. Alright you win this round, mega blocks. But you will never convince me that this looks like that.

LEGO and MEGA Blocks have been a big part of my life since I was very young. Whether it was Walmart or Kmart, I recall begging my father for Legos even though he could not afford the nice sets. I remember being very sad when I left the store empty-handed. 😂 Builds have become more detailed since then, and it is impressive to see what folks can do now. Here is a compilation I made of a few areas I thought had a great sense of realism at Legoland. (Sad Fact: All the lego sets and items I bought, cost more then the trip itself. That includes 3 tickets for 2 days, and 2 nights at the Castle Hotel) Also, Instagram often has upload issues where for a few seconds, my video looks glitched.
