On average, a wall-mounted baby changing station has a maximum recommended weight limit of around 50 pounds, and they’re usually intended for children up until around three years old. Benji is probably 30–35 pounds right now, and it’s definitely starting to get a lot harder to change him on these changing tables. I love that our therapy place has a larger changing table for him as he gets older. Unfortunately, it’s actually pretty rare for us to come across a place that has one. My hope is that in the future we see more accessible and inclusive bathrooms with changing tables for people with disabilities. No person should ever have to lie on a bathroom floor to be changed. #cerebralpalsy #hie #microcephaly

#AutismDad 💙 @nakitanelson_ Embrace The Moment: Moments with Ms. Mashaila aka daddy's girl as her IG family named her Father's Day Spot Light Listen he is the best to ever do it in my opinion we have receipts He's still standing 10 toes down § for his baby girl When Mashaila was diagnosed, he said if it were one of us what would be want. Ummm ( That's something to think about right? Would you want your parents to give up on you, and put you away or in the back room. (Yes that's still happening today) Or Give it their best. We both agreed to that taking care her to the best of our ability was the only way to go. While it has been a challenging 25 years, he has not wavered. He does literally everything I do for Mashaila and some. I can get ready to feed, bathe, and change Sh the deed has already it's been already done! GLORY (Praise Break) We're going to do a reel or go live together before the week is out. if you have any questions for him for me, drop them in the chat, or send us a DM, He chooses to Live Resilience @liveresilien so should you. 6 days of hard work. Wonderful progress. And another step forward for Erik. 💚 We have just completed Erik’s second DMI intensive, and once again I’m amazed by what he can achieve with the right therapy, the right support and someone who truly believes in his potential. A huge thank you to @martha_seibel_karacsonyi for bringing DMI into Erik’s life and for challenging him, encouraging him and helping him discover what his little body is capable of. What you are giving him feels truly life-changing to us. ❤️ This time, the vest has been a real game changer too. It gives Erik the additional support he needs to work stronger and for longer during his sessions — allowing him to practice movements, build strength and push himself that little bit further. Watching this video makes me incredibly emotional. Things that may look like small movements to others are huge victories for Erik. Every time he holds himself a little stronger, controls his body a little better or manages something he couldn’t do before, it gives us so much hope. Once again, we spent six intensive days working, pushing and celebrating every little achievement. And the progress has been wonderful to see. Thank you, Martha, for your dedication, your energy and for believing in Erik. 💚 We are so grateful to be able to do these intensives with you at @therapiestelle in Buchs. And a huge thank you also to @clarapoif, Erik’s physiotherapist at home, for all the continuous work she does with him between intensives, helping him build strength and keep progressing every week. ❤️ Now some well-deserved rest — and we’ll be back in October for the next intensive! 💪 One step at a time. One new possibility at a time. ❤️ #DMI #Physiotherapy #RareDisease #ASNSD #nevergiveup

TYPES OF MICROCEPHALY: HEAD SHAPE VARIATIONS Microcephaly refers to a head circumference that is smaller than expected for a child’s age and sex. It may be congenital or acquired, depending on when impaired head growth develops. Head shape can vary with the underlying cause and associated skull or brain development. Serial head circumference measurements and growth charts are important for monitoring growth over time. ⚠️ Disclaimer: This post is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. #Microcephaly #PediatricNeurology #ChildDevelopment #Neurodevelopment #PediatricAssessment

Not every unusual-looking head shape means microcephaly. ❤️ Microcephaly refers to a head circumference that is smaller than expected for a baby’s age and sex, and it is diagnosed using measurements and growth standards, not appearance alone. CDC Some head-shape patterns, such as scaphocephaly, trigonocephaly, brachycephaly and plagiocephaly, can also be associated with craniosynostosis, depending on which skull sutures are involved. CDC +1 📌 If you notice an unusual head shape or have concerns about your baby’s head growth, talk with your pediatrician. ❤️ Save this educational guide for later 🤍 Share it with another parent Educational information only. A child’s head circumference is much more than a measurement. It is one of the simplest ways to monitor healthy brain growth during the first 3 years of life. Regular head circumference checks can help identify concerns like microcephaly, macrocephaly, or other conditions that may need further evaluation. Early detection gives children the best chance for timely care. As parents, we often track weight and height, but don’t forget to ask your pediatrician to measure and plot your child’s head circumference at every routine visit. Reel talk: it is terrifying to watch Merritt go from a seemingly healthy appearing newborn, to developing seizures at seven months old, to having a ton of delays in his development now at two years old. When we found out he had microcephaly, the doctors laid out a very broad range of options for his development, and unfortunately, for us, he has followed the more severe path. It’s hard holding onto hope sometimes, just to have a new diagnosis or development unfold, but we will continue to fight for him everyday. What is more scary, though, is knowing that as he continues to get older, he will continue to “lose” a lot of his baby charm that has allowed us to capture people’s hearts and educate the public around us. People have fallen in love with his smiles and sweet personality, but the smiles are fewer and further between these days. He is still that sweet boy on the inside, but he looks less and less “typical” each day. What happens when the first thing people see, isn’t his light, but the disabilities in front of them? Will we still get the prayers, love and support? Will people start to divert their eyes more and tell their kids not to stare? It’s hard knowing your kid will face prejudice and ableism. Most of this world is not built for kids like Merritt, and everyday is a fight for him and for us. We will always show up for him, but will you? I sure hope so ❤️🤟🏻 #specialneedsparenting #microcephalyawareness #medicalmama #cerebralpalsyawareness💚 #epilepsyawareness💜
Types of Abnormal Head Shapes – 1. Generalized Microcephaly Microcephaly is a condition in which a baby’s head circumference is significantly smaller than expected for their age and sex. It may be associated with abnormal brain development and developmental delays. 2. Brachycephaly Brachycephaly refers to a short, broad head shape with a relatively flat back of the skull. It may result from positional molding or, less commonly, premature fusion of certain skull sutures. 3. Scaphocephaly Scaphocephaly is a long, narrow, boat-shaped skull. It is classically associated with premature fusion of the sagittal suture, known as sagittal craniosynostosis. 4. Trigonocephaly Trigonocephaly is a triangular-shaped forehead with a narrow frontal region. It is commonly associated with premature fusion of the metopic suture. 5. Plagiocephaly Plagiocephaly refers to an asymmetrical or uneven head shape, often with flattening on one side. It may be positional or caused by premature fusion of a skull suture. 6. Oxycephaly Oxycephaly is a rare skull deformity characterized by a high, pointed or peaked skull. It is associated with premature fusion of multiple cranial sutures. Important nursing point These conditions are not all types of microcephaly. Microcephaly refers specifically to a smaller-than-expected head circumference, whereas brachycephaly, scaphocephaly, trigonocephaly, plagiocephaly, and oxycephaly describe different head shapes, often associated with positional molding or craniosynostosis. Nursing assessment: Measure the infant’s head circumference, plot it on an appropriate growth chart, assess head symmetry and shape, monitor developmental milestones, and refer for pediatric evaluation when abnormalities are suspected. #nursingofficer✌️❤️ #abnormalhead #pregnancy #viral #trending Follow for more @nur.seforlife
So many parents have been told what their kiddos may never do once they receive a diagnosis. Never sit independently. Never take steps. Never hold a crayon. Never reach for a toy with purpose. We hear it from parents of kiddos with HIE, cerebral palsy, microcephaly, and significant motor delays. And I understand why those words stick. When you’ve heard them enough times, you start to plan your life around them. Here’s what 16+ years of pediatric OT has taught me: progress rarely comes from one thing. It comes from what happens when the right tools meet the right technique, at the right intensity, for the right child. Technology can help prime the nervous system. It can support circulation, regulation, and readiness, so the brain is in a better state to learn. But technology alone doesn’t build a skill. Skilled, hands-on therapy is what turns that readiness into movement, function, and connection. When we layer the two together through Neuroadaptive Therapy®, we’re giving the brain more opportunities to adapt and build new pathways, and giving the body more chances to practice what it’s learning. That combination is where we’ve watched families see things they were told not to hope for. A child holding their head up longer than ever before. Bearing weight through their legs. Reaching across midline. Making eye contact and staying with it. These aren’t small wins. For these families, they’re everything. Every child is different, and I’ll never promise a specific outcome. What I will promise is that we look at your child as a whole person, not a diagnosis, and we build a plan around what’s possible for them. If your child has HIE, cerebral palsy, microcephaly, or motor delays and you’re ready to explore what focused, concentrated therapy could do, our intensive program was built for you. Days of targeted work that combine advanced tools with expert hands-on technique, designed to create momentum. Comment INTENSIVE or send us a DM to find out if your child is a good fit. #HIE #HypoxicIschemicEncephalopathy #CerebralPalsy #Microcephaly #MotorDelays PediatricOT OccupationalTherapy NeuroadaptiveTherapy TherapyIntensive Neuroplasticity Spec
