Watching insects emerge is one of my favorite things. Although it’s rare I capture it on film cause I get infatuated with them.
I won’t lie…. I snapped off my rig and when to rig when I looked around. As I waked up to the bank I noticed a to of exoskeletons. When I noticed these I begin to look in them to possibly see a few in the process of emerging. If you get lucky you may just find one or a bunch.

That time of year when a £7 midge head net might be the best money you ever spent.
August in the Scottish Highlands. You can easily visit and get away without seeing a single midge, but if you plan to camp in a sheltered location in calm conditions, be prepared….

Who knew midges were so appetizing? We hit a hatch a week and a half ago that had all the fish in the river looking up. So awesome to see these little bugs get the fish so excited!

The Highland welcoming party. A good turn out. A mist with teeth. Tiny gangsters with wings. If only you could see the way we entered our tents.

Never have I been more grateful for a sandfly proof tent than on my latest 3 week trip to fiordland this summer 😂. The @bushbucknz horizon 2p tent being an absolute lifesaver, probably literally 😂.
Proper teaser short vid out tomorrow and full video this Sunday!

At the entrance of Sutherland Sound in Fiordland the sandflies were particularly hungry and absolutely destroyed me, making for some rather miserable fish filleting and camp packing up 😂.
