Some workplaces treat on the job trauma, anxiety and constant pressure as if it’s just “part of the job.” It isn’t. Trauma at work should never be normal. Healthy workplaces don’t run on fear, exhaustion or silence. They run on trust, clarity and psychological safety. If work has started feeling heavier than it should, comment CLARITY and I’ll send you my Career Clarity Diagnostic.
Does this sound familiar? You can’t bear to see them. When an unexpected meeting lands in your diary, your instinct is to panic. They talk down to you. Gaslight you. Single you out. The market is rough. I know. But also, some jobs cost more to stay in than to leave. These are five signs yours might be one of them: 1. Persistent physical symptoms that don’t resolve after vacation. 2. Complete loss of psychological safety. 3. Values conflict with leadership. 4. Identity erosion happening in real time. 5. Visible leadership deterioration with no accountability. Schedule a Career Reboot Strategy Session if two or more of these are true for you. #burnout #careeradvice #corporatetruths #careercoach #worktok
Most people don’t realize they’re in Stage 3 until the damage is already done. Stage 1: they test you. Stage 2: they escalate. Stage 3: they recruit. That’s when the narrative about you starts spreading without you in the room. The protection isn’t confrontation. It’s documentation. Burnout or “career crisis” isn’t always about doing too much. Sometimes it’s about working in an environment that quietly conflicts with who you are and what you value. For a long time I thought the irritability, exhaustion, and feeling like I didn’t recognize myself meant I needed more discipline or mindset work. But the deeper I looked, the clearer it became. It wasn’t the workload. It was the constant “pebbles in my shoes.” Small cultural tensions. Leadership styles that didn’t align. Organizational values that didn’t match my own. And no amount of personal development can fix a cracked foundation by yourself. If you’ve been saying “I’m burned out” or “I hate my job,” the next step might be getting clear on your personal and/or professional values. Misalignment there will drain you faster than a busy schedule ever will. If this resonated, save it for later and tell me: have you ever experienced values misalignment or something similar?
If your job requires more emotional regulation than technical skill you are working in a toxic workplace. 😶 Let that land for a second. 👀 Because you were hired for your expertise. 🎯 Your knowledge. Your skills. The very specific thing you bring to the table that nobody else in that room brings quite the way you do. That’s what the job description said. That’s what the interview was about. That’s what you showed up ready to do. But somewhere along the way the actual job became something else entirely. 😔 Now most of your energy goes toward reading the room before you speak. 💔 Calculating how to deliver information without triggering the wrong person. Managing up because leadership can’t manage themselves. Bracing for the mood your manager walks in with every morning like that’s just part of the role. Translating passive aggressive emails into something you can actually respond to professionally. Deciding which battles are worth having today and which ones will cost you too much to fight. That is not your job. 💀 That is emotional labor on top of your actual job that nobody hired you for and nobody is compensating you for and nobody will ever acknowledge you for carrying. And it is exhausting in a way that goes so far beyond normal work fatigue. 😨 Because technical work uses your mind. This uses your entire nervous system. Every. Single. Day. You were not hired to be a therapist to a dysfunctional workplace. 🌱 You were hired to do work that matters. And you deserve an environment where your skills are the most demanding thing about your day. Not the people. 💪🏾 Not the politics. Not the emotional minefield you have to navigate just to do the thing you actually came there to do. You deserve better than that. 🧡 Follow for more. Fear of evaluation at work isn’t just “being sensitive.” It’s your nervous system reading feedback as danger. If performance reviews, emails, or feedback make you spiral, shut down, or overthink, this can be linked to trauma and work anxiety, not a lack of confidence. You’re not bad at your job. Your system learned that being evaluated was not safe. If you struggle with anxiety at work or fear of feedback, follow for trauma-informed career support and tools to help you feel safer at work. #jobsearching #careersupport #careercounseling #traumatherapist #traumainformed
The moment when the stress becomes too much to handle it’s a signal. Lacking all patience or remaining energy, it’s a signal! Describing being completely drained of strength, it’s a signal! It’s a signal to hire help, and not become another statistic! Let’s schedule a free discovery call today to learn more! #careercoaching #careerburnout #impostersyndrome #businesscoachforwomen
So when someone tells you to just ‘take a vacation’… That might help temporarily. But it rarely fixes the foundation problems that created the burnout in the first place. Research shows that rest alone doesn’t resolve burnout unless workload, boundaries, and stress patterns also change. Because success built on exhaustion will always collapse. But success built on a strong foundation? That’s where you get: • Consistent income • Calm leadership • Clear strategy • Work you actually love Burnout recovery isn’t about escaping work. It’s about rebuilding how you work and how you live. If you’re rebuilding your foundation right now, comment FOUNDATION. #careercoaching #careerburnout #businesscoaches #impostersyndrome #businesscoachforwomen
The coworker who does nothing is safer than you are. You didn’t get forced out because you were bad at your job. You got forced out because you were too good at it. Because you cared when everyone else had checked out. Because you asked the questions nobody wanted answered. Because your presence alone held up a mirror to everything that was broken. And instead of fixing what was broken they removed the mirror. 🪞 That’s what weak leadership does. It doesn’t rise to the challenge. It eliminates the challenge. It doesn’t address the dysfunction. It addresses the person disrupting the dysfunction. You were never the problem. You were the pressure. And pressure reveals character. Theirs just happened to be the kind that couldn’t handle yours. 💅🏾 Stop shrinking what was done to you by calling it a personality clash or a bad fit. Name it for what it was. If this just reframed something you’ve been carrying follow for more. This page is for the ones who were never actually the problem. 🧡 #toxicworkplace #burnoutrecovery #workplacetrauma #healingfromburnout #careergrowthtips
You didn’t lose your passion for your career. A toxic environment just made it impossible to feel it anymore when they forced you to prioritize self preservation over fulfillment and joy. 😶 And that distinction is everything. 💔 Because the story you might be telling yourself 👀 is that you changed. That the drive you used to have just dried up. That maybe you were never as passionate as you thought or maybe the field was never the right fit or maybe this is just what happens when you get older and more realistic about what work actually is. None of that is true. 😔 What actually happened is that your nervous system made a decision. 🎯 When an environment becomes consistently unsafe your brain stops allocating resources to things like creativity and fulfillment and joy. Those are functions of a nervous system that feels safe enough to thrive. And yours stopped feeling safe a long time ago. So it redirected everything. 💀 Every bit of energy that used to go toward the work you loved started going toward survival instead. Reading the room before you spoke. Calculating every interaction. Managing up. Protecting yourself from the next thing you couldn’t predict. Performing okay so convincingly that even you started to believe it. There was nothing left for passion. 😨 Not because the passion was gone. But because self preservation consumed the bandwidth that joy used to live in. That is what a toxic environment does. 🌱 It does not kill your love for the work. It makes surviving the environment the full time job so that doing the actual work becomes something you can barely access anymore. Get safe enough. 💪🏾 And watch what comes back. The passion never left. 🧡 It was just waiting for an environment worthy enough to finally let it breathe again. Follow for more. This page is for the ones reclaiming what the toxic environment buried. 💛 #toxicworkplace #burnoutrecovery #workplacetrauma #healingfromburnout #careergrowthtips
