Come visit the Loire Valley with me…
I’m very proud of the relationships I’ve built in the wine business.
Those relationships have given me access to hard-to-find wines from brilliant small producers, and that is what WineSpark is all about.
Here’s the story of how I did it in the Loire Valley…

Les Rocailles Apremont Jacquere 2024
Price: 17.99
Winemaker: Guillaume Durand and Alban Thouroude
Grape Varietal: Jacquere
Region: Savoy, France
Why we love this wine: “Jacquere is a great white wine to enjoy this time of year while we get quick bursts of warmer days heading into Spring, and those quick brutally cold bursts. Maybe you’ll want something to drink while we ride this rollercoaster of fluctuating temps. The wine is crisp, clean, and refreshing to enjoy on your porch with a pair of shorts on, but also has the acidity and the makings to go with fondue, raclette, and other melty cheesy dishes I like to enjoy in the winter. Cheers!” – Trevor
Viticulture: Sustainably farmed
Vinification/Elevage: Grapes are hand harvested and vinified in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation.
Tasting profile: Dry and light bodied with notes of green apple and floral hints with a crisp clean finish.
About the winery: Les Rocailles is a producer in Savoy, France nestled in the French Alps in east France. It was taken over by Guillaume Durand in 2006, a native Savoyard, after Pierre Boniface. Pierre had hoped to pass it all onto his children, but his daughter Miriam preferred to be a computer systems architect, and his son literally became a rocket scientist. Durand and Thouroude own roughly 50 acres and purchase grapes from roughly 60 more acres and has become a notable producer in the alpine region for making high acid, mineral-driven wines.

As someone who loves a red wine all year round, I can confirm this Rhône Valley Blend of
Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Viognier
has the structure I crave in a white wine.
Stone fruits, lemon and floral. Just the right amount of creamy texture. Picture this with Tagliatelle pasta, white cheeses and spring greens.
Pick up this bottle for this weekends dinner plans :)

Chartreuse de Bonpas is often called the "Gateway to the Southern Rhône" because of its strategic location. Here are the key details about the winery’s physical and historical presence near Avignon:
📍 Location & Setting
• The "Good Passage": The winery is located in Caumont-sur-Durance, about 10–15 minutes southeast of Avignon. Its name comes from the Latin Bonus Passus, referring to the safe crossing point it provided over the famously turbulent Durance River.
• The Landmark: It sits in a fortified medieval monastery (a Charterhouse) that dates back to 1318.
• The Terroir: Being at the "gateway" means the vineyards sit on the transition point into the Southern Rhône, characterized by the famous galets roulés—large, smooth river stones that soak up the sun’s heat during the day and release it to the vines at night.
⛪ History in Brief
• Popes & Monks: In 1318, Pope John XXII (based in Avignon) gave the site to Carthusian monks.
• The Motto: The monks’ original motto, "Stat crux dum volvitur orbis" (The cross is steady while the world turns), was adapted by the winery to: "The wine is steady while the world turns."
• Napoleon’s Visit: Napoleon Bonaparte famously stopped here in 1814 and remarked that if history had gone differently, he might have liked to retire to such a cloister.

MAINE DE LA GRANGE DES PÈRES – ANIANE (HÉRAULT)
This has cult wine status, we only get a few bottles a year .
Laurent Vaillé purchased his own land in 1989 after spending many years working with famous wineries Coche-Dury (Meursault), Chave (Hermitage), and Domaine Trévallon, Provence. I believe his brother is running the winery today.
The red is a blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Counoise , if you want to have something special in your wine cellar look no further ..

DOMAINE PRIEURE ROCH 2023 - WINE SOURCE X 67 PALL MALL
At Wine Source we recently hosted a superb masterclass to present the 2023 vintage at 67 Pall Mall, and everyone left the tasting with a satisfied look on their face. This is proving to be a remarkable vintage at Prieure Roch, with consistently high quality across the range.
Two of the Domaine’s rare monopoles were in top form: the Gevrey-Chambertin Clos des Varoilles showed incredible depth and density, offering a completely different profile than the standard VV bottling from the northern sector. As for the "best in class," the Vosne-Romanée La Goillotte, the attendees' glasses emptied far too quickly. A phenomenal wine - so delicious already that I suspect few will be able to resist popping the cork upon arrival.
Thank you again to Antonio Quari for joining us in London, and to the entire team at @67pall_mall for the seamless organization. There is no better place in the city to truly appreciate wine in all its minute components while learning firsthand about the yearly struggles and successes that make the life of a vigneron such a rollercoaster.
