Irrigation is the first step to prosperity ㅤ I’m at Lake Hume this morning with Jamie Bonnefin - our People First Candidate for the first day of the Farrer by-election. ㅤ Hume Dam is one of Australia’s great infrastructure projects and is symbolic of everything that is wrong with Australia today. ㅤ Hume Dam was built so that we could exploit our enormous wealth by controlling the water flow of the Murray river in order to irrigate the fertile soil of the Murray basin. ㅤ Labor governments have been undoing the great work of our forefathers by buying back irrigation licences and instead letting the water flood the banks of the Murray river causing unnatural and destructive erosion. ㅤ People First is committed to reversing the water buybacks and increasing irrigation in one of Australia’s great food bowls. ㅤ It’s time we put our farmers and our prosperity first. ㅤ To help our vision come true please sign up today at https://vist.ly/4z2gu ㅤ If any locals would like to help on prepoll please send your contact details to president@pfp.org.au and we will be in touch

That’s almost 725 hectares being added to South Australia’s parks. So we can provide more access and better protection to our state’s natural attractions. Murray River National Park and Maize Lagoon Conservation Park in the Riverland, as well as Sceale Bay Conservation Park on Eyre Peninsula, will be expanded. The expansions are in addition to 1246 hectares added to eight other parks across the state by the Malinauskas Government and the creation of two new national parks at Nilpena and Worlds End.

You'll hear about the astonishing life cycle of Freshwater short-finned eels (Anguilla australis) – a migration over thousands of kilometres down the east coast of Australia, and back again. You'll also see the animals that share the eel pond: Australian Bass (Percalates novemaculeata), Silver Perch (Bidyanus bidyanus), Murray River Short Neck Turtle (Emydura macquarii), Eastern Long Neck Turtle (Chelodina longicollis), Eel-tailed Catfish (Tandanus tandanus) and Freshwater Yabby (Cherax destructor). 📍Located in the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre 🎟️Included with Museum general entry Free for First Peoples community members ❄️Not during winter
