She attended a routine green card appointment last week, was detained, and deported the very next day. What happened to Maria is unjust. It is unconstitutional and un-American. No one should have to fear that showing up to a routine appointment could mean not making it back home. Bring Maria home.

My favorite was the shrimp and my dad loved everything including the fried oysters and the gumbo that he tried ( which I’ll share in another video this week) . A 17-year-old student was shot and killed at Natomas High School on campus. Read those words out loud and understand there are still voices out there pushing to keep law enforcement off school campuses. And we know who they are. At this point, it’s not a difference of opinion, it’s a refusal to deal with reality. We can have all the conversations we want about policy, philosophy, and perception. But none of that matters when masked men enter a “secure” campus and a student is killed. We send our kids to school for 6 to 7 hours a day with the expectation that they are learning, working hard, and striving to build a better future. The last thing any parent should have to worry about is whether their child is safe at school. This is why School Resource Officers matter. Our partnership with Elk Grove Unified School District shows what works. It is a long-standing, proven model built on trust and coordination. We have continued to build on that and recently added a School Resource Officer at Antelope High School, bringing enhanced safety and immediate response capability to that campus. These Deputies are not stationary security guards fixed at posts; they build relationships with students, staff, parents, and the entire school community. They become part of the fabric of that school, and safety organically becomes part of it. Opposing School Resource Officers might sound good in a school board meeting or on social media, but it does not hold up when real-world violence shows up at a school’s doorstep. Whether we are talking about human trafficking, ICAC operations, or preventing the early release of sexually violent predators, our society’s number one goal has to be protecting the most vulnerable. And who is more important to protect than our children?
