🐻 A major win for wildlife in the Canadian Rockies. A 45,000-hectare landscape near Fernie, B.C. has been permanently protected, preserving one of the Rockies’ most important wildlife corridors. The protected area helps connect habitats between Banff and Glacier National Park in Montana, allowing animals like grizzly bears, wolverines, lynx, and other wildlife to move safely across the landscape. The next step is restoring the land by improving habitat, re-naturalizing old roads, and protecting it from future development. For species that need vast connected landscapes to survive, conservationists say this is a significant step forward. #CanadianRockies #WildlifeConservation #GrizzlyBear #NatureConservancy #BowValley
The Conservancy Team led by the Chief Naturalist and an Internationally renowned wildlifer @panthera_arjuna work every morning to monitor the movement of wild animals in the Conservancy area. All such movements are recorded and shared with forest officials. We at the @the_bambooforest_gothangaon leave no stone unturned to protect the wildlife and the wilderness of the area, while adding lost and marginal farmlands for wilderness and wildlife. #natureconservancy #cocoonconservancy #bambooforestnatureconservancy #indiasfirst #thebambooforestexperience
Volunteers joined scientists, engineers and city officials on Thursday, July 31, for a native planting event on Walker Island, part of a years-long effort to restore the Lower Perdido Islands and protect Alabama’s coastal habitats. Hosted by the Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program (PPBEP), The Nature Conservancy in Alabama and the City of Orange Beach, the event invited the public to help stabilize shoreline areas by planting native species that will reduce erosion and support local wildlife. The project centers on Robinson Island and Walker Island while preserving nearby Bird Island, all near Perdido Pass, for recreational use. Led by The Nature Conservancy, the broader effort includes the creation of dune, marsh and subtidal habitats — each playing a critical role in coastal resilience and biodiversity. Construction of the new island shapes, which began after years of planning and coordination, is nearly complete. “We’re balancing habitat and human use,” said Meg Goecker, a coastal scientist at Moffatt & Nichol. Together, we’re supporting rainforest protection right here in America! As a partner of The Nature Conservancy (@nature_org), we’re helping to support Indigenous-led conservation across 2 million acres in the Tongass Rainforest in Southeast Alaska. That means bringing the rainforest under community authority to advance climate action and steward the ecosystem for generations to come! 💚🌲

Mile after mile, ocean conservation takes work and funding — and people like Julie Robinson of @nature_org are leading the charge. Thanks in part to her efforts, and to those working alongside her, Belize is on track to protect 30% of its waters, creating space for marine life to thrive and supporting the communities who depend on it. 🌊💙 Learn more with The Future of Nature, now streaming on the PBS app. #ocean #oceanlife #nature #belize #pbs #natureconservancy #earthmonth
Day 18 of our Adventures in the Central/North Coast: Green Island to Khutze Inlet. Oh my, what a place!! Found anchorage right by the waterfall in this fabulous conservancy area with such a stunning estuary. Snow capped mountains, glaciers, full green lush vegetation around the waterfall that tumbled down all the way from the top of the mountain, so beautiful! The light when we arrived and for the rest of the day was incredible. We set off to explore via dinghy after dinner and I could have taken a million photos as everywhere I looked was a postcard. I kept going wow, every few minutes! 😅 We didn’t see bears that evening but the scenes in front of us were so magnificent, it didn’t matter about the bears. I painted the following morning, even when the light was not the best, as we waited for the tide to come up. We wanted to go back and explore the estuary in the hopes that we would see some grizzlies feeding in the morning. And oh, wow, did we ever see them! First a mama and two cubs that were just eating away. Then, all of a sudden they took off. We thought maybe they had smelled us but then we saw another bear swimming across the inlet. They had smelled that one, a male coming for them which is why they left in a hurry. We saw more bears, a total of 8 I think that morning. Saw lots of different birds and seals too. Such an incredible place, grateful to have experienced it, and of course, the photos and/or video don’t do it justice! 🌱 Did you know the Green Swamp Preserve in Brunswick County is home to 14 incredible species of carnivorous plants—including Venus flytraps, sundews, and pitcher plants? Thanks to @tnc_nc’s conservation efforts and controlled burning practices, these unique plants thrive in the longleaf pine ecosystem. 🌿🔥 We’re celebrating an amazing milestone: 500,000 acres of controlled burns across North Carolina, helping protect these precious habitats!
