Nepali Culture 🙏🏼🌸 Why my parents touch my feet as Devi 😭🙏 People often say, “A daughter is the Lakshmi of the house”… But in most places, it’s just a saying. In our Nepali & Gorkha culture… this is a real, living truth. ❤️ Here, daughters don’t touch anyone’s feet… instead, elders bow down and touch their feet, seeing them as a form of Maa Lakshmi, as Devi. 🙏 I’ve grown up watching this — my parents, siblings, relatives… everyone shows deep respect to daughters. We are made to feel special every single day. Not just during Navratri or Kanya Pujan… but in everyday life. 🔥 This culture teaches us something powerful — Respect is not based on age or gender. Giving respect doesn’t make you smaller. ❤️🙏 How are daughters treated in your culture? Tell me in the comments 👇 And send this to your mother, sister, or daughter ❤️ Follow 👉 @SacredRootsofIndia for more real cultural stories 🌿 Jai Maa Lakshmi 🙏 #nepaliculture #gorkhaculture #respectwomen #indianculture

<Read caption> In the Newar community of Nepal, a girl traditionally goes through three symbolic marriages not because of divorce or remarriage, but as part of a deep cultural and spiritual journey rooted in centuries-old tradition. First Marriage – Ihi (Bel Bibaha) Before puberty, a Newar girl is ritually married to the Bel fruit (wood apple), which represents the immortal god Vishnu. Since Vishnu is eternal, she is believed to never become a widow in her lifetime. Second Marriage – Bahra Tayegu (Gufa Rakhne) During adolescence, she undergoes a symbolic marriage to the Sun God, Surya. After 12 days of seclusion in a dark room, she is presented to the sun, symbolizing purity, protection, and transition into womanhood. Third Marriage – Actual Marriage Later in life, she marries a human husband. But because of her earlier sacred unions, she is spiritually protected and can never be considered widowed — a powerful belief that reflects respect, security, and dignity for women in Newar society. These three marriages are not about romance — they are about protection, identity, and cultural continuity. . . . . #belbibha #newariculture #newars #nepaliculture #marraige
