YEP, THAT’S ME, TOOLING AROUND WITH A WALKER, ALMOST THREE YEARS AGO! 💁‍♀️ I’m not gonna lie, I had to give myself a lot of positive self-talk to accept that I needed to use a walker! 😲 So I turned it into the “walker workout” that I’m sharing today. Joint replacement can seem terrifying… If you’re concerned about joint replacement, I was too… very concerned when I heard I would need a full hip replacement. But today is a day of celebration & gratitude as it’s the fifth anniversary of my hip. It had been deteriorating for years, not because of an injury, but because of osteoarthritis, which my father and brother also went through. The incredible part is that I never had pain, even when the joint wwas bone to bone. This can be attributed to strong hips, back & legs from lifting for years prior to the procedure. I had a limp that I wasn’t aware of, couldn’t sit comfortably & couldn’t tie my shoelaces. But no pain. After some basic and minimal restrictions while healing, I was back in the gym in three weeks doing bodyweight movements & gradually progressing to lifting weights, then advancing to new personal bests in Kettlebell Sport. I had dual feelings about going the surgery: Nervous that I wouldn't be able to run or lift weights any longer, or that I would have a limp post-procedure. But it turned out to be nothing short of miraculous! Soon after I met many people who’d had the same surgery with great results. If you need joint replacement, don’t be afraid. It’s not the surgery of old! Today’s technology today is fantastic. You don’t need to live in pain or with limitation! Take back your quality of life! I am giving so much love to this hip that has served me so well in these 67 years! Just wanted to share how I am feeling today and also wanted to thank all of you for your kind thoughts and prayers and love! It means so much to me,it’s hard to find the words to express my sincere gratitude! Send me some positive vibes tomorrow morning at around 8:00 am EST! I am going to do so well!
