The doctors probably won’t ask you how she’s doing. But you might be the only one recognizing the signs and willing to tell the truth. Postpartum depression and anxiety don’t always look like tears. Sometimes it’s: – Not trusting anyone (even capable loved ones) to help with the baby – Being afraid to be alone with the baby—or afraid to sleep – Feeling like a bad mom, like the baby doesn’t even like her - Feeling like you don’t love her anymore – Obsessively tracking everything – Rage that feels out of nowhere – No appetite, no motivation, no joy – Taking everything seriously, with no room for lightheartedness – Constantly Googling a “fix” for normal baby behavior – Worrying about germs to the point of panic – Physical pain that doesn’t make sense For me, it showed up in my breastfeeding journey. I tracked every quarter ounce. I weighed milk instead of trusting the bottle lines. I cried if he spit up after eating. I cried while pumping. I spiraled if anyone suggested formula. I tried everything to increase my supply—supplements, power pumping, lactation cookies, teas… And my whole mood depended on how much milk I made that day. My husband was the one who saw it first. He didn’t try to fix it. He just said: “I don’t think this is how it’s supposed to feel.” And that was the start of getting help #newdads #newdad #newmom #newparent #newparentlife #newparentslife #newparents #firsttimeparents #firsttimemom #postpartumjourney #postpartum #postpartummentalhealth #postpartumsupport #postpartumrecovery #momsmentalhealth

✨ Sensory Soothing for Sweet Dreams ✨ Before bedtime, incorporating gentle, rhythmic strokes with a super soft cloth as part of a calming routine! This gentle touch provides wonderful sensory input that can help little ones relax and wind down. Use a clean, soft cloth to gently stroke baby's arms, legs, or back. It's amazing how these simple, soothing motions can signal to their bodies that it's time to settle down. Important Safe Sleep Reminder: Always make sure your baby's sleep space is clear. Once your little one is drowsy or asleep, place them on their back in their crib or bassinet, which should be free of any loose blankets, cloths, pillows, or toys. This sensory exploration is best done as part of a supervised pre-sleep routine, not with items in the sleep space itself. What are your favorite gentle ways to help your baby relax before bed? If your partner just gave birth, it’s partially your job to protect her space and your baby’s health. Here are 5 tips to encourage (or enforce) for anyone visiting: 1️⃣ Don’t let them visit if they’re even a little sick. Sniffles, sore throat, cough, “just allergies” - doesn’t matter. Newborn immune systems are fragile, and even a minor virus can land them in the hospital. When in doubt, reschedule the visit. 2️⃣ Lightly suggest that guests bring food or something helpful. In my experience people ask if you need anything. Take them up on it: a meal, snacks, paper plates, even toilet paper. New parents are running on fumes and usually don’t want to have to leave the house. 3️⃣ Don’t feel like you have to let them hold or feed the baby. Every parent’s comfort level is different. Your guests might try to guilt you about it. It’s okay to say no. 4️⃣ Make your stance on kissing the baby clear. 5️⃣ Don’t feel bad if you want guests to keep visits short. It’s okay to tell them that you enjoying having them, but it’s time to go. Hopefully they will be able to read the room. This is your moment to speak up so she doesn’t have to. 🙌🏻 #newdad #newdads #newmom #newmoms #newparent #newparents #firsttimemom #firsttimeparents #fourthtrimester #newborntips #newparentlife #newparentslife
