Chris Cornell performing “Nothing Compares 2 U” Live for SiriusXM “The reason we are doing [Nothing Compares 2 U] is because I saw an interview with Prince not long ago, it was a talk show, and the host asked him, ‘Is it true that you hate it when people do covers of your songs?’. And I was so surprised with the answer, which was ‘Yeah it really pisses me off.’ I was thinking, ‘Wait a minute, what makes Prince ‘Bob Dylan from Minneapolis Only Soul Songs’ is that other people have had career-defining moments doing one of his songs.’ So in direct defiance to Prince’s wishes, who is a hero of mine by the way … It’s one of those songs if you just had a relationship breakup, it’s going to make you throw up probably.” Chris Cornell explaining why he covered this song in an interview with SiriusXM #Music #RockNRoll #ChrisCornell

“Nothing Compares 2 U” by Prince (In The Style of @chriscornellofficial ). Fun fact, Chris Cornell is my all time favorite vocalist. While not perfect, I’m slowly trying to adapt some of his technique into my own work. No one sings like you anymore. Just a voice, a guitar, and a room holding its breath. Every line lands soft but heavy, like he’s leaving pieces of himself behind. Artist: Chris Cornell Song Title: As Hope And Promise Fade Performed Live: Hotel Café, USA (2009) Filmed by super fan, Lisa Johnson

📹thelegendsofmusic #checksound #chriscornell #nothingcompares2u #siriusxm
